Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Wednesday blasted Ted Cruz after a POLITICO report quoted the Texas senator telling a donor that fighting gay marriage wouldn't be a "top-three priority" for his administration.
"Conservatives are being asked to 'coalesce' around yet another corporately-funded candidate that says something very different at a big donor fundraiser in Manhattan than at a church in Marshalltown," Huckabee said in a statement released by his campaign Wednesday afternoon. "Shouldn't a candidate be expected to have authenticity and consistency, instead of having to look at a map to decide what to believe and what to say?"
Cruz's stance, expressed privately to a group of moderate Republican donors in New York earlier this month, seems to contradict his public statements. In June, for example, he told NPR that gay marriage opposition would be "front and center" in his campaign. But in July, he rejected a Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, insisting marriage is a state issue.

never cared for Huckster - a pro-life big govt leftist.
But the attack on the very first amendment is a big F’n deal.
Alas, we can only wait for a SCOTUS that will follow the Constitution.
noted how this once unmentionable concept has wormed its way into "mainstream conservative thought."
Before you flame me, I'm only making the observation with words that you used - I am not making any comment about you or what you believe.
"Who's got the Huckabee PING list?"
One of the worst things about homo hitch ups sanctioned by the state is that poor little innocent children get placed with these immoral, depraved homosexual couplings. So it is an issue and also happens to coincide nicely with the decline of civilizations and crosses God’s word.
I am worried about this adoption situation personally as a relative’s infant is kind of up for grabs (mother can’t care for adequately). We pray that he not end up in one of these state-licensed debauchery factories.
And no voting for Cruz here if he in fact stands shoulder to shoulder with the homosexual lobby in his campaign appearances.
Again, NOTHING can be done about gay marriage until one ore more justices who voted for it is replaced by a conservative judge, And then some state has to challenge the current ruling and that will take years to wind its way through the courts. THEN the SC will have to decide to take it. And THEN IF the SC overturns the previous ruling, there is the problem of what to do with the tens of thousands of married gays.
Compelling.
Huckabee burrows in to the outsider insurgency as ...an undocumented operative?
The Huckster needs to just go on and drop out, and then maybe go to bat for some murdering convict in prison, write some letters to the Governor of the state in question, see if he can help release another killer on the public.
Blubber Boy is craving some attention.
Maybe Cruz will give it to him in the form of a verbal slap.

Wow.
P.S. IF Cruz is elected, you can bet that the liberals on the SC will die before they let Cruz upset the balance of power that the liberals have enjoyed for the past 75 years.
I’ll admit as a Christian who feels our cultural disease and spiritual sickness basically leads to everything else wrong with the country, this is a concern.
The one way I can rationalize it, or at least put my mind at ease with it is a combination of what other people have said.
It’s not on his top three priority list to fight because indeed constitutionally and especially as far as the POTUS and his (or perhaps one day her) role goes, it’s not their role or even place necessarily to “fight it”.
And indeed, for most people running for that office, there are so many other issues that look bigger than gay marriage that I could say it not being in his top three.
That of course doesn’t mean it’s not a concern or not something that constitutionally he wouldn’t try to push to see changed. Heck, it could be number four on his priority list for all we, and especially Mike Huckabee, knows. That said, it probably isn’t. But it isn’t as if we can expect him at this point to say his view and his definition of marriage is evolving, a la Obama, or even Hillary.
If he goes that route, THEN string him up.
The Huckster just Hucked himself.
By looking more conservative than Ted, he makes Ted look more moderate. And he’s not “moderate.”
Agreed.
As a separate issue from the overall anti-constitutionalism of the current regime and judiciary, it is not a very high priority.
I don’t see any candidate making it a priority. Americans seem to have warmed up to perversion, pedophilia, and your garden-variety moral rot. Best chance to rid this nation of this evil depravity at this point is probably having Putin invade and conquer us.
That’s because it isn’t in the top three at the momemt .. and if only Huckabee had listened to the people .. he would have found that out .. but instead he was listening to the GOP-e and missed the boat - AGAIN.
>> He is such a big fat phony.
,,, as well as a ruthless sleazebag.
Huckabee is a pig.

Well, there ARE some very OLD “liberals” on the Supreme Court and, you’re right, I wouldn’t expect them to retire a minute before they took their last breath as long as Cruz was President. But their last breaths will come, in God’s time.
Yep. Homosexuality and SSM go against God’s natural order, and it destroys the moral fabric of families and entire societies. It is very dangerous situation for our children, therefore it should be one of the top priorities.
Was Cruz lobbying gay rights activists?
