Ted Cruz Cartoon Is Pulled by Washington Post
New York Times ^ | 12/23/2015 | By DANIEL VICTOR

The Washington Post pulled a cartoon from its site on Tuesday that depicted Senator Ted Cruz's young daughters as monkeys.

Mr. Cruz, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, angrily denounced the cartoon in a fund-raising email that sought to bring in $1 million.

The illustration, by the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes, was replaced late Tuesday by a note from Fred Hiatt, The Post's editorial page editor.

"It's generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it," Mr. Hiatt wrote. "I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree."

. . . I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case . . .

The exception being that Cruz is a Republican. The policy only applies to the children of Democrat politicians. Republican children are fair game. Just ask George W. Bush and Sarah Palin.

I remember at the 2008 DNC convention, the day before Barry made his speech, his kids were on the convention stage, and did a Skype style call to him, on the campaign trail...it was all orchestrated to show us what a good father he was. It had both his kids front and center, on the convention stage, as part of an orchestrated part of the program.

But they were still off limits.

So I don’t buy for a minute that their use in this video gives the media permission.

And that’s just half of the double standard. Using them in a cartoon is one thing...but monkeys? No way that happened with Barry’s kids, without somebody clearing out their desk.

The @washingtonpost, which is the lobbyist (power) for not imposing taxes on #Amazon, today did a nasty cartoon attacking @tedcruz kids. Bad

I don’t buy into it either, but then they did it and I’m sure that mindset played in.

Sure, they protected Obama’s kids.

This media is so blatantly out of control...

I found the footage of the Obama girls clearly being used as part of the campaign...on the convention stage.

As did I. I don’t agree with what the media does, but it clearly does it and the reasons are pretty much known.

They hate Conservatives

They are intellectually dishonest

They have no morals

IMHO until Ann pays some kind of damages she and, by extension, the Washington Post have learned nothing.

Unfortunately too much education involves some degree of pain and/or embarrassment (hence grades, the use of red ink, and extra PT).

To make the point that what she did was an embarrassment to the Washington Post Ann needs to be sent home for a week or three without pay. That minor inconvence might serve was a warning the next time, and there will multiple next times, she attempts to replay this incident.

Congress - We failed to read it before voting yea.

Usurper - I failed to attend my security briefings before writing a big honkin’ check to America’s enemies.

Hitlery - I failed to go potty before the debate.

Ryan - I failed to let the average voter know I was Boehnerhead II.

The story is all over the web.

And of course each story about the WaPo pulling the cartoon includes a copy of the cartoon that was “pulled”.

These people are despicable.

So that makes the editor lazy at best incompetent (probably) at worst.

Fire the editor too.

Shame on the MSM and their horrible double standards... sickos ...

Anyone believe the Washington Post would have run a cartoon with pictures of Obama’s children portrayed as monkeys?

The New York Times is no better... they hate the same ways...

Why is no one talking about the racism of portraying minorities as monkeys?
