Judge Bars BLM Leaders From Mall Of America Protest

A judge ruled Tuesday that several local Black Lives Matter organizers cannot demonstrate at the Mall of America on the busy shopping day before Christmas Eve, but she said she couldn't stop others from attending the protest.

Lawyers for the nation's largest mall had requested a temporary restraining order to prevent the Black Lives Matter protest planned for Wednesday, in hopes of avoiding a repeat of the massive demonstration that disrupted business and closed stores in the mall last December.

Hennepin County District Court Judge Karen Janisch barred three protest organizers named as defendants in the mall's lawsuit from attending the demonstration, but she limited her order to them. The mall had sought to block the entire Black Lives Matter group from protesting.

What do they do when someone walks into them? I haven’t yet understood how they stop people from shopping unless the shoppers just give up and go away.

Isn’t the Mall of America on a train route? That was a big mistake; how much can a shopper carry on a train? All it does is provide access to hood-rats (like plants along a home’s foundation - the bugs just use them as bridges).

It’s a major hub for bus and light rail traffic.

How do you think that the Cedar-Riverside Somalis and the Lake Street crack dealers get there?

The last time I was there, several years ago, I truly feared for my life. And, as I am unwelcome there due to the fact that I’m legally permitted to carry a pistol in the state of Minnesota, I will NEVER go there again.

I just visited once when passing through (I’m in NJ); our malls here have the same problems. I didn’t feel unsafe (I was with a group of young men myself), but I could see how people wouldn’t like it - especially at night.

I lived near the MOA for years, only went inside twice. I carried a concealed weapon both times, and no one knew, or cared. Discretion is a virtue.
That said, I wouldn’t go back there now, even if everything was 1/2 price.
MOA = Mall of Africa

I don’t open carry. I could go there and never be detected.

But I will be damned if I’m going to give them one red penny, when there are plenty of other, safer places to spend my hard earned dollars.

The judge is an idiot. Mall of America has the right to ban anyone they want.

So those against Planned Parenthood can go inside their private property and protest?

So those against Planned Parenthood can go inside their private property and protest?

From within the article link I posted on post 26:

Even with the Court's decision in Pruneyard, few states have recognized any state constitutional right to free expression on private property. The scope of these decisions is narrow. State constitutional provisions have been held to apply in only two private-property settings: shopping malls and non-public universities. Moreover, the state courts have limited the situations in which these protections are applicable to only a few, such as those involving political speech.

Furthermore, (LMAO as it aslo involves MOA) in Minnesota (State v. Wicklund) the Minnesota SC stated in 1999 the following:

We granted review to consider whether an anti-fur protest staged in the common area adjacent to Macy's Department Store inside the Mall of America (MOA) is constitutionally protected speech. We agree with the court of appeals that it is not, and therefore affirm.

Black Lives Matter sounds like a cheap ripoff of a much more worthy organization The Historic Vehicle Association with their This Car Matters Campaign that started about 15 years ago, as a way to keep legislators and especially the tree huggers from putting unreasonable restrictions on the antiques and classics such as the infamous clunker laws that were tried in various states. It's not only guns the libs are after.

I understand they had a protest the same day last year. What kind of disruption did they wind up causing?

Major. Stores closed due to safety concerns. Lots of lost revenue.

Snow rain and sleet mix here, all day.

The inside of the MOA is going to smell like a wet dog in about 30 minutes.
