H/T to our FRiend fredhead for the post.

Take CLOSE NOTE of this statement:

The move also means Virginians with a history of stalking, drug dealing or inpatient mental-health treatment cannot obtain a permit in a state with comparatively lax laws and carry a handgun legally at home.

Since we already know that veterans are on the government watch list as "potential terror suspects", you can see how any veteran who has been through the VA "health-care" system for anything worse than athlete's foot can and will be denied his 2AM rights.

Incremental gun confiscation.

For thus has the Lord said unto me:
"Go, set a watchman, Let him declare what he sees."

we cannot have that decision undermined by recognizing permits from other states with more permissive standards.

Their licensing looks to be little more than a short online course and a background check. So now they won’t honor my illinois permit that required sixteen hours and range testing?

Herring said severing the out-of-state agreements can prevent people who may be dangerous or irresponsible from carrying a concealed weapon.

That is a red herring Mr. Herring, and you and your boss know it.

2A arguments aside for the moment, I really hate this sort of thing. Folks in the executive branch are supposed to be enforcing laws, not making laws or changing laws. As a first step, let the VA legislature debate this, then vote on it.

And, no, I don’t by the argument that this is a “regulation”. Call it what you will, but it’s a law.

Aren’t the Virginians the biggest backers of gun-control “safety” legislation?

Why is this not the perogative of the Legislature?

How does the AG just decide to do this on his own?

Isn;t reciprocity in a law already?

The fix is simple: >> OPEN CARRY << there, then!

Let the anti-gunners feel some of the unintended consequences of their actions!

That will not help the tourist trade, nor any other walk in businesses in the state.

Has there been a lot of crime committed in Virginia by people with a concealed carry permit from another state? No, I didn’t think so. Just another stupid lib tactic to try and disarm the people. Another cure for a nonexistent problem.

Guess I will change my vacation plans from riding my Harley along the Blue Ridge in Galax area this spring to maybe Boone N.C. where I can carry and feel a little safe.

My apologies from the Peoples Proletariat of Virginia. McAuliffe and his crony comrades have been an embarrassment to us since the election and now the world is beginning to understand why.

Personally, I’m thinking this is just part of the orchestrated nationwide Obama gun grabber plan. As such, this is just the beginning as they go full Alinsky.

Step 1 - Divide and conquer.

(Gotta post and run. Freep on and Merry Christmas!)

Let me get this straight, This will make Virginians and their law enforcement officers safer by ensuring that Virginias laws on who can and cannot carry a concealed handgun are applied evenly, consistently, and fairly to other states.

So he pretty much is saying that that the other states CCW holders are criminals.

Without reciprocity, this also means Virginians won't be able to carry in most other States.

I suspect the Democrats figured that was an attractive feature of the plan. They want people dependent on the politicians and bureaucrats.

Don't you just love these control freaks?

Reciprocity...it's a two way street. Virginians aren't going to be recognized in those 25 states. Smooth move idiot.
