President Obama said in a radio interview airing on Monday that Donald J. Trump, a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination, is exploiting the resentment and anxieties of working-class men to boost his campaign. Mr. Obama also argued that some of the scorn directed at him personally stems from the fact that he is the first African-American to hold the White House.
Demographic changes and economic stresses, including “flatlining†wages and incomes, have meant that “particularly blue-collar men have had a lot of trouble in this new economy, where they are no longer getting the same bargain that they got when they were going to a factory and able to support their families on a single paycheck,†Mr. Obama said in the interview with National Public Radi
The comments were Mr. Obama’s most pointed response to Mr. Trump since the Republican candidate suggested that Muslims be barred from entering the United States after the mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif. The attack was carried out by a couple who apparently were radicalized Muslims, one of whom had entered the United States on a fiancée visa.

However note that even here Obama delivers his usual left-leaning qualification - he says that " ... unwillingness to hear other points of view can be as unhealthy on the left as on the right." Put into other words, our President is explicitly saying that the 'right' is ALWAYS unwilling to hear other points of view whereas the 'left' can/may be unwilling!
I pose to you, my fellow FReepers, that finding an instance of right-wing agitation on any campus in America is almost impossible! Of course he is talking to NPR, the government funded left-oriented mouthpiece, so expecting the interviewer to challenge Obama is unlikely! Which is why having NPR at all is WRONG!

Whether Obama likes it or not, Hillary is now the Dem’s presumptive nominee. She went after Trump, now Trump is hitting her back hard.
Its a variation of Triangulation. If Obama can draw Trump away from his attacks on Hillary, making it a Trump vs Obama mudfight, it gives Hillary more political maneuvering room.

Save for a series of stinging criticisms (from the R candidates), he has been sidelined. Trump is soaking up the lion’s share of the attention. For a MN, this is like living death.
So he will try to commandeer the spotlight from time to time. If that doesn’t work, he’ll up the ante.
Barring the unknown-except-by-God, we have a very long and trying year ahead.
