A CBS poll released Sunday found that Ted Cruz has pulled well ahead on Donald Trump in Iowa, with a 9-point lead.
Cruz leads the field with 40 percent of the vote, followed by Trump with 31 percent. Bringing up 3rd and 4th is Marco Rubio and Ben Carson, with 12 and 6 percent respectively. No other candidates net more than 2 percent.
The newest poll is well in line with a recent Bloomberg poll which found that Cruz had a 10-point lead in the Hawkeye State. However, a Public Policy Polling survey released a few days later found that Trump was on top with a 3-point lead.
Ted rules in Peoria!!
So for all the campaigning, tv appearances and badmouthing Jeb and Lindsay have done, they are at 2 and 0 percent, respectively, in Iowa.
I hope Trump has a real excellent ground game after the holidays to get the voters to caucus with him. The only sure way to win is to keep winning and create an aura of inevitability.
JMHO
+/- 7%. Garbage poll. Have fun crowing about this today...
You read my mind FRiend I’ve been saying that for months.
Love Trumpets..... According to them the only polls that aren’t garbage are the ones favorable to the Donald. Anyone else notice this trend?
Trump doesn’t have to win Iowa, but he’s sitting pretty good in Iowa. Cruz maybe at best 1 for 49 in state polls. Trump is making new caucus voters by the thousands in Iowa that pollsters like cBS don’t count in their polling. And the Margin of Error in this poll is very large and with its tiny sample size it is close to meaningless.
And that applies to the other 2 polls. Garbage MOE’s. Again Cruzers. Enjoy your day.
“He got where he is because of that sense of inevitability.”
That is the latest MSM talking point. He got where he did with me because of what he campaigns on, before he became “inevitable”. I am probably not alone.
Every 4 years we go through this hoopla over Iowa. The winner almost never gets the nomination. I would love for Trump to win but he’s still likely to run the table after Iowa. I think he will be happy if he’s in the top two.
The title of the article is misleading.
With a margin of error of +/- 7% it cannot be said that Cruz is ahead.
I sent this “report” to some pals yesterday and it is relevant:
Went to the “town meeting” at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, Saturday and the place was packed. Several NC State Senators and Congressmen were in attendance as well as plenty of TV and Print Media from Charlotte. Security was VERY tight with local and State police at every door and elsewhere.
Mike Huckabee spoke for about 45 minutes(he had a rally scheduled in Asheville Sat. night then he was going home to Arkansas then on to Iowa Monday)and was well received. He answered some questions from the audience and the consensus is, to no one’s surprise, Washington D.C. and the Media suck and the people are fed up. That this country is headed for disaster and neither political party seems willing or able to do anything about it, or is actively TRYING to destroy the country.
Huckabee was particularly incensed over the passage of the horrendous “Omnibus Budget” deal passed by the Republican controlled Congress. He made the observation that the Media was “playing the American people” in that they were covering Trump 24/7 because that was where the money was(ratings)and with the media it is ALWAYS about the money. This is of course, true. There are no finer examples of money-grubbing Capitalists than the Media and the Entertainment industries.
Huckabee said candidates with big money like Bush or who are popular with the Media(Bernie and Hillary)can get their message out but the rest are pretty much out of luck. This is also true.
But what I thought was the most interesting comment Huckabee made was that he has been in Iowa for weeks and from his own and other’s polling, it is apparent that the Iowa caucus voters are 80% undecided as to who they will ultimately cast their votes for come February.
In other words, Iowa is up for grabs. This is also true. It is also true that the Iowa outcome usually has little effect on the race overall(Santorum won it last cycle). But if Trump loses, a real possibility, it could change the “dynamic” as they say.
We will soon find out.
Granted within the MOE, but only in Trumpet math is 31>41
Keep calm and Cruz on! Cruzmentum timing is excellent!
Just using the margin of error without the cBS bias, it could be Trump 38% Cruz 33%. This poll does approach meaningless status with its negligible sample size.
Yep, Rubio's sleazy lying debate attack backfired, and Ted is surging,.
Thanks Rube!!!!!!
Love “Cruzets” (because just saying people are supporters of a candidate is too beyond their abilities)...According to them Iowa is the most important state in all of the primaries and that even though it constantly picks people that go on to lose and easily votes for Democrats in the fall, that if Cruz wins it means that he’s won the nomination and the general, and 3 extra terms in office. Any poll that shows him ahead gets posted 15 times in 3 hours, while ignoring the others showing the opposite.
Anyone else notice this trend?
Agree! Just another “take down Trump” attempt.
