I love all the Christmas carols, whoever sings them ....but this one song can get me out of the Christmas spirit faster than seeing hilLIEry’s face.
The little drummer boy is an awful story and song. The Christmas story is more than compelling enough without adding fictional characters.
Say what you will, it beats the hell(that’s a drum joke son) out of Lennon and McCartney’s Christmas crapola.
A sinless babe might understand what a mere mortal couldn’t. That said, there is nothing biblical vouching for or against this, and so it remains a fantasy, perhaps a parable. Why should people get all upset over such a thing? Why can’t they try to get the point? It would not have become so well accepted if there had been no reason, if there had been no way it touched hearts for generations.

(Sweetheart, I'd have loved being serenaded by his conga drumming when I was a babe . . . of course I didn't have to grow up to be the Messiah, but still . . . ;) )
I always picture the baby Jesus really ticked off after being woken up by drum music, taking the drum out of the Little Dummy Boy's hands and breaking it over his head. But that wouldn't be much in the Christmas spirit, would it?
Even more so than "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas"?
Sorry about that, now you're going to be humming it all day long........LOL!
