The ad, which features the Texas senator read Christmas classics like "Rudolph the Underemployed Reindeer" and "The Grinch Who Lost Her Emails," will air in key Iowa markets Saturday night, campaign spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told the Independent Journal.
"In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, we are excited to bring a Cruz family Christmas into the homes of SNL viewers in Iowa," she told the website. "Ted is a long time fan of SNL, so the chance to film his own SNL style commercial was an opportunity we couldn't pass up!â€
Recent polls show Cruz in dead heat with businessman Donald Trump to win the Hawkeye state. The Real Clear Politics average puts Cruz at 26.4 percent and Trump at 25.4 percent, a statistical tie.

Now that was a fantastic ad! It will fit in perfectly with the traditional SNL parody commercials. This gives me a reason to stay up late tonight to see SNL. Liberal heads will explode!

This might play well other times other than SNL (which I imagine has a high liberal viewership).
Ted, and others, need to do more of this.

this family session on the couch has the feel of realism. the shoes transitioning to what are without doubt Texas boots delivers a picture different from the somewhat stodgy besuited lawyerly to the extreme Senator. Then there are all the books...... the titles are a stroke of brilliance
