No, not a given at all. Certainly not Paul, Carson, or Fiorina voters. In fact, at one time I was pretty sure Trump would get most of Carson's voters.

Rush was talking yesterday about the fact that a couple of GOP establishment types are thinking Cruz is their only hope to stop Trump. That should terrify everyone in the Cruz campaign, because it means they are pretty sure they can take Ted out.

And Cruz supporters should be mad that the GOPe would rather have him. It means they think Ted can be bought by the donors or party bosses. I’m not sure he can’t, so I switched. He is weak on illegal immigration, even after seeing how the people reward a strong conservative approach.

Red State posted a chart of 1st and 2nd choices combined.

Ted took the lead this month over Trump, 40-39%. His advance corresponds exactly with Carson s decline.

The rest remain flat, including Trump.

Im getting that too. Cruz’s numbers do not reflect all the hyped plant stories. This isnt a hit on Cruz but rather an observation. Unfortunately he has picked up some endorsements from social conservative leaders and as we all know that’s the kiss of death.

Nope.

It means they are sure he loses to Hillary.

Most here are still thinking about this the wrong way - as if it's about "conservative" vs. "liberal", when it's not at all.

It's "globalists" vs. "patriots", or "Americans".

The GOPe is completely, totally committed to globalism, and, therefore, the end of America as she has existed before now. With Bush, or Rubio, or Kasich, or Romney (no, they haven't ruled him out yet), they get continued movement towards transnational integration. They get the same with Hillary.

For the GOPe, Bush or Hillary, either way they win.

They know patriots (Americans) are a strong majority. They know this by looking at 1972, 1980, and 1984.

After 1984, they came up with a brilliant strategy - fracture the patriot bloc with wedge issues - and it has worked.

Until now. Trump has them shi**ing their pants.

They know they can beat Cruz. It would be better for them, financially, to have the nominee be one of their own, but as long as they know Cruz means Hillary as POTUS, they will take him as a last resort.

Those same establishment folk were pretty sure they could take Trump out, too.

And how, pray tell, would they take Cruz out? There's not a hint of impropriety. He is not purporting to be anybody other than who he is. There is no hidden agenda. There's nothing to attack him on.
