Are you sure Ted Cruz is not being pressured by his rich donors? Why is he pushing the cheap labor express? See with your own eyes...

Cruz can’t debate Hillary. He has to win nomination first.

Cruz had the biggest increase in poll numbers in this poll. He wasn't even a contender before and was losing to both Rubio and Jeb Bush in Florida.

“And Cruz supporters should be mad that the GOPe would rather have him. It means they think Ted can be bought by the donors or party bosses.”

No, I think it’s because in the end, they don’t want either one, but know Cruz will at least make a decent president.

Not only can Cruz not be bought, he has solid conservative values and experience in government. Trump doesn’t, nor is there any reason to believe he will magically acquire them before January 2017.

I hate the GOP leadership too, but I love America more. Which is why I can’t support Donald. I have no desire to watch my country burn to the ground.

Basically, if one’s not entirely for Trump, I question their viability to be a living life form.

I could live with either Cruz or Trump. The problem I have with Trump are as follows:

1. Unknown quantity due to past statements.
2. Trump’s support for Ethanol subsidies.
3. Trump’s ambiguous, albeit tepid, support for DC statehood.

Yes, I’m absolutely certain Cruz is the right guy.

Cruz in ‘16.

Wow, such drama queen antics.

Cruz is so rock solid that he didn’t have an illegal immigration plan for months, while the other candidates had detailed ones? And now he can’t utter the word ‘deport’? And covers up his real intent with lawyer words, like ‘i don’t intend to...’, instead of just saying it straight out?

And all rock solid conservatives take money from Club for Growth and Goldman Sachs.

So you are really voting for his rich donors. My number one issue in 2016 is deporting 30 million illegals. Guess which candidate is best on that issue? No way I am supporting any pushers of the cheap labor express, like Cruz, Bush, Kasich & Rubio.

But Trump said he’ll let them back in, if they aren’t ‘bad people’. Does that concern you?

No, because they come back LEGALLY, and Trump administration gets to choose who can come back.

Look, I am myself a legal immigrant, and naturalized US citizen. But I have been productive all my life. I have higher education than average America. I worked in real world main street economy for 25 years in US. We need more people like me to come in.

But what we are getting is the rejects of other countries by the millions. How is that beneficial to hard working middle class Americans?

The MSM is pushing Trump hard because they think he is a sure loser.

Does no one remember McCain and “Maverick”?

You don’t need to win me over on that point - illegal immigration is my no. one issue as well.

I just differ with you on Cruz’s policy. He has never advocated amnesty or any kind of legalization. The H1B thing bothers me a bit, as do Trump’s previous comments on illegals. But we have to take both of them at their word today.

"Well, given the conservative base's proven track record of lagging support for anyone who isn't an ideal/near ideal conservative,"

Yeah, there's that timeworn false meme that a candidate must be perfect when we know there's no such thing. It's leveled at people who have had enough of voting for liberals, BY people who are attempting to justify doing so.

I don't care how many screams of "purist"are directed my way, or how many demand that I get behind another liberal. It's not happening.

" I'm quite fine with Trump and his ability to appeal to blacks, Hispanics, and independents."

You don't know that he has wide appeal; it's only Trump fans projecting "he's magic! He can do all things!"

You're seeing polls that have yet to translate into votes. Social media is full of people who say they pick Trump in polls because they like what he's saying, but they wouldn't actually vote for him.

Bottom line, we need to worry about the base and the evangelicals. But some of us never learn that lesson no matter how often it's repeated to our detriment.

"I also believe Trump's wide appeal makes it likely Hillary will have to defend/attack many more states than she would against any other GOP candidate, including Cruz."

If Trump were the nominee, the media and the Dems would hit him like the Battle of the Bulge on his liberal history and on the slips he makes almost weekly that reveal his core liberalism. He'd implode, and Trump fans would be running around blaming everyone but themselves.

Unfortunately that is precisely what will happen. And the basic refrain will be: why vote for liberal-lite when you can have the real thing with Clinton/Sanders.
