BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) â Some parents in the Anoka-Hennepin School District are questioning a choir teacherâs decision to use a song about Ramadan performed in Arabic at a holiday concert.
At Thursday nightâs concert at Blaine High School, one of the songs students will be singing includes Arabic words, including the phrase âAllahu Akbar,â which means âGod is great.â
Christian and Jewish songs will be performed as well, but the Ramadan song is getting all the attention.
It started with a post on Facebook. A parent of a ninth-grade Blaine choir student posted the lyrics to the song the choir has been practicing. When others learned students would be singing the song on Thursday, the comments took a turn.

And they should question it . . . especially since Ramadan was MONTHS ago!
I’d rather see that than more creepy Obama worship songs.
Allah Ain’t So Akbar!!!!
Went to my daughter's choir concert the other night. They sang many religious Christmas songs. One of the reasons I love living in Texas!
Was this the only school by chance not threatened this week?
It’s time to boycott Minnesota! Oh, wait...there’s nothing to boycott. Never mind.
...and then upload the reaction to YouTube.
After all that Moses had done for the children of Israel, they betrayed him to Ba’al as soon as he turned his back. So he told them to choose Ba’al, or choose God. Obviously our leftist leaders and educators have chosen Ba’al, and they are going to proselytize our children under the guise of multiculturalism.
They call it a Holiday Concert instead of a Christmas Concert, then they want to sing an Islamic song. Where is the ACLU on this?
Joy to the world! Al’lah has come! Let earth receive her king!
Good ol Minnesota. I remember when that state wasn’t overrun by a bunch of Muslim cockroaches now it is..singing Allah Akbar, that would make the Paris and San Bernardino terrorists proud..do they blow themselves up in their little suicide vests when the concert is over
No child of mine, or grandchild, under my care would ever sing such a thing...or do calligraphy of the Islamic profession of faith.
Funny how they can be asked to do these things at public schools, but any mention of Christ Jesus...even so much as a “Peanut’s Christmas Special,” is deemed inappropriate, intolerant, and causing discomfort to others.
It’s time we took our country back.
You can sing about religion as long as it’s in Spanish or Arabic
Or it’s a slave spiritual
Feliz navidad
And go tell it on the mountain
It doesn't mean...âGod is great.â, it means Allah is (the) Greater(God) people who echo this wants every one to think they are praising the God of Abraham
Allah is their Moon god
I have a very hard time getting into a liberal’s mind. On the few occasions I succeed, I don’t like it there.
My kids go to a public school in a small town. The Christmas songs were generic or about Jesus. Heck, the music teacher even said, “This next song is about the birth of Jesus.” at one point. No one batted an eyelash.
Not all is lost.
Yet.
Yeah
No way my child would be singing in this choir.
“How many times a year is Ramalamadingdong?”
It’s calculated by the moon, as is the whole Islamic calendar. It’s quite a bit more complicated than how the Christian calendar figures the date of Easter but similar. Lots of info out there.
