As his administration prepares an executive order tightening access to guns, President Obama met Wednesday with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a proponent of new gun laws who has become the chief enemy of the National Rifle Association.
Obama has met with many gun control advocates in recent weeks as his aides complete work on a potential order expected to expand background checks on gun sales by closing the so-called "gun show loophole."
A timeline on the order -- which has been tangled in legal and administrative questions -- is still unknown.
The White House said Wednesday evening that Obama and Bloomberg "discussed ways to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have access to them and what more could be done at the state and local level to help address gun violence in America.""

In the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut, the group morphed into Everytown for Gun Safety, which pushed for new laws in cities and states across the country. Bloomberg poured millions of his own fortune into the group, which helped fund campaigns of pro-gun control candidates.
The organization was meant as a counter to the NRA, whose ratings play large role in contests around the country, and whose funding has helped propel pro-gun candidates into office.
Bloomberg's group had a mixed record in supporting candidates in the 2014 midterm elections, but the former mayor has nonetheless pledged to spend millions backing down-ballot candidates in 2016.

Won't work in any state with state pre-emption on these laws. All others however, are fair game for these tactics.
Obama would like for his executive order to be sweeping, but his hands are tied. If he goes too far, the Supreme Court and Appeals Courts can block the executive orders. This means that the order will have mostly symbolic nuisance measures as opposed to drastic restrictions. If he wants to push something drastic, he can go the Executive Action route (as he did with his ban on deporting illegals), which can't be blocked by the courts but isn't binding and has no teeth.
Either way, it will be just another dropping from a lame duck on America's windshield.
...and adding to those thousand are the hundreds of thousands of truly unconstitutional rules and regulations by unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats that carry the same weight if not more than LAW itself.

Here’s at least one example that’s just popped up on my radar screen, because it’s local for me.
L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas wants county to explore stricter gun laws
“In response to last week’s terrorist shooting in San Bernardino that left 14 people dead and another 21 wounded, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas said Tuesday he wants to explore stricter gun laws.
Ridley-Thomas introduced the measure at Tuesday’s meeting which was later adjourned in memory of the victims in San Bernardino. The board will vote on the proposal next week.
Police said Syed Farook, a environmental health specialist for San Bernardino County’s Department of Public Health, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, using assault rifles and handguns “sprayed the room with bullets” at the Inland Regional Center where the county department was holding a training and holiday event.
Ridley-Thomas pointed to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision Monday to reject hearing a challenge to a Chicago suburb’s ordinance that banned semiautomatic assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. He said it signaled that local governments have the legal authority to regulate the purchase of “rapid-fire weapons.”
“Now is the time to act,” Ridley-Thomas said.”
As if we don’t already have more than too many oppressive, but ineffective gun laws in California, now the geniuses who want us to believe that you can eradicate evil by passing new laws want to start piling on at the local level.
This latest rejection by the supremes to hear a challenge of that case recently enacted outside Chicago is going to have ripple effects that are never ending.
Everyone with a functioning brain knows that the ultimate goal is confiscation and that they’re going to keep chipping away at our rights until they finally succeed in a confiscation order.
I just hope I’m still alive when that time comes, so I can weigh in with my opinion in a meaningful manner.
I said awhile back he was going to do this crap- They floated the trial balloon in NY and saw that Cuomo got away with it and then other states followed, and I predicted it would become a federal deal once the administration discovered no one would really stand up against it
While it may not be sweeping in the beginning, this is the nose under the tent that opens the door for future tyrannical violations of the constitution
Had he tried to do this in one fell swoop- the masses would have revolted- but by doing it little by little, there aren’t enough people affected at any given point to spark a movement of revolt- no one wants to be the first casualty for a cause they think no one else will take a stand for

While he’s here blaming our lax gun laws for this, do you suppose he’ll beg forgiveness for his policy of not allowing the immigration screeners who supposedly vetted the murderers background without looking into her social media entries, thus approving her K-1 visa and entry to America?
How anyone can believe a word that comes out of 0b0la’s mouth is beyond me.
I made that comment last night over on yahoo in reference to an article detailing 0b0la’s visit to California on his way to another taxpayer funded vacation to Hawaii. I tried to follow up my comment by posting the article source;

Ever since I learned of that prohibition of the immigration screeners to look at social media postings by prospective immigrants, I’ve been fit to be tied.
How can anyone with a functioning brain in their head believe a word this administration says when they tell us that all immigrants and refugees are being carefully screened before being allowed entry to our country, when the people who are supposed to be the screeners can’t even check the social media postings of the prospective immigrants? What exactly does a background check entail if you can’t, or don’t even want to know what someone is willingly saying about themselves in an open and public forum?
I heard their lame excuse that they didn’t want to antagonize the advocacy groups, or pry into the personal matters of the prospective immigrants by checking their social media activities. I can guarantee you, if you or I as American citizens ever come under the government spotlight deservedly or not, “anything you say (or ever have said) on social media/the internet can and will be used against you in a court of law”.
Apparently, in the Bizarro world view of the 0b0la administration, American citizens are the only ones on the planet that don’t enjoy the freedom of speech and privacy guaranteed by the first amendment of the US Constitution. As far as they’re concerned, we’re the dangerous ones.
I can only conclude that this administration is either trying to provoke Americans into an uprising, or they have so little regard for our intelligence that they think they can get away with anything and that we’re so stupid we’ll believe whatever it is that they tell us.
Personally, I wonder if America can survive another 13 months of this administration? I know that many of us on the right have been trying to warn our fellow countrymen about the intentional infliction of damage that’s being perpetrated on this country by the criminals currently in control of it, but what more is it going to take to wake the rest of the American people up?

Still not seeing it. In my state and many others preemption is in force. Locals cant make it up as they wish. They might try but will lose in court. That and local politics tends to be rougher.

I believe so. While it was certainly a victory to rid ourselves of the 2 statist thugs, I would give those back to have seen our rotten POS guv get kicked to the curb.

I have been to hundreds of gun shows. There is no loophole. If the seller is a dealer you do the NICS check like every other dealer. If the seller is an individual, you do the same as you would buying one from any other individual. The same laws apply.
Same thing goes for the Libs talking about buying guns over the internet, you have to have it shipped to an FFL dealer, then pass a NICS....like always. I have also bought and sold a few dozen over the internet, it’s no different, and you don’t just order one, bypass the check and have UPS leave it on the deck like the Libs want you to believe. As always they are full of BS, or at the best ignorant, or more likely BOTH!
