As his administration prepares an executive order tightening access to guns, President Obama met Wednesday with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a proponent of new gun laws who has become the chief enemy of the National Rifle Association.
Obama has met with many gun control advocates in recent weeks as his aides complete work on a potential order expected to expand background checks on gun sales by closing the so-called "gun show loophole."
A timeline on the order -- which has been tangled in legal and administrative questions -- is still unknown.
The White House said Wednesday evening that Obama and Bloomberg "discussed ways to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have access to them and what more could be done at the state and local level to help address gun violence in America.""

In the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut, the group morphed into Everytown for Gun Safety, which pushed for new laws in cities and states across the country. Bloomberg poured millions of his own fortune into the group, which helped fund campaigns of pro-gun control candidates.
The organization was meant as a counter to the NRA, whose ratings play large role in contests around the country, and whose funding has helped propel pro-gun candidates into office.
Bloomberg's group had a mixed record in supporting candidates in the 2014 midterm elections, but the former mayor has nonetheless pledged to spend millions backing down-ballot candidates in 2016.

The takeaway I have from this:
A new takeaway on this. Massive local election funding from that Motherless F***, Bloomberg.
After all thats happened re gun laws/terrorism I really thing it would be a waste of $. Itll only get some traction in areas where this sort of thing is par for the course and maybe not even then.
I have to wonder what exec authority the president has over gun control. Will these be another exec orderlike the immigration order which was challenged in court?
If that Kenyan sonuvabitch would go after ISIS like he goes after our Second Amendment protected rights to bear arms, America would be declaring victory over those terrorist scumbags.
But of course ‘victory’ is not something Obama is all about, unless it is our enemies victory over US.
The local-election funding is a big deal. You can buy local elections, and get anti-gunners in small seats all across the US, even in areas with a large pro-gun bias.
This is serious stuff.
Uncle bloomers has managed to fool most of the people in NV to get an initiative on the ‘16 for intergalactic background checks that will finally put a stop to ALL “gun violence” and ALL “domestic violence”. Or so they say. Truck loads of cash will be arriving soon to push the LPOS/SPOS/IPOS/UPOS to vote yes for it. “Sounds good, I’ll sign up for that.” Idiots.
I have never been to a gun show. What is the supposed “loophole?”
Is it as bogus as calling a semi-automatic rifle an “assault rifle?”
He got is rear handed to him here in Colorado during the recall elections. It was a very nice victory.
I've been vacillating back and forth on what I predict the order will be. My common sense says it will be smallish. Not sure OTrauma is looking for another court fight like the Amnesty one.
However, the big news is Bloomberg pledging millions to local races. This will be their big focus. We need some people on our side to notice this and counter it.
Not an expert but here in Texas where there is a state “second amendment” local laws have been over turned because they are unconstitutional in the state.
Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.
But would they probably work well in Blue states.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Impotent 0bama still trying . .
marktwain, I know you have contacts in the NRA. Read my comments on this thread and give them a heads up. This is a VERY big deal.
From what I've heard is that EO will merely tighten the definition of what constitutes a "dealer". For example, he could rule that anyone who sells 50 or more guns a year is a dealer and has to conduct background checks on all sales. This would effect a relatively small number of gun enthusiasts who like to buy and sell a lot of guns.
My take:
1. It’s another “symbolism over substance” move meant as a sop to their base.
2. That doesn’t mean that they won’t continue to look for opportunities for backdoor mayhem
Bongo-bongo is that creep on the playground who used to play “Let’s you and him fight” while keeping his mom jeans crisp and spotless.
