As his administration prepares an executive order tightening access to guns, President Obama met Wednesday with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a proponent of new gun laws who has become the chief enemy of the National Rifle Association.
Obama has met with many gun control advocates in recent weeks as his aides complete work on a potential order expected to expand background checks on gun sales by closing the so-called "gun show loophole."
A timeline on the order -- which has been tangled in legal and administrative questions -- is still unknown.
The White House said Wednesday evening that Obama and Bloomberg "discussed ways to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have access to them and what more could be done at the state and local level to help address gun violence in America.""

In the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut, the group morphed into Everytown for Gun Safety, which pushed for new laws in cities and states across the country. Bloomberg poured millions of his own fortune into the group, which helped fund campaigns of pro-gun control candidates.
The organization was meant as a counter to the NRA, whose ratings play large role in contests around the country, and whose funding has helped propel pro-gun candidates into office.
Bloomberg's group had a mixed record in supporting candidates in the 2014 midterm elections, but the former mayor has nonetheless pledged to spend millions backing down-ballot candidates in 2016.

I have a related takeaway - a CNN investgation piece a couple weeks back revealed that the NRA is about as grassroots at it gets, all of it’s political money comes from small individual donations/donors.
The gun control crowd needs direct financing from the private accounts of Leftist billionaires like Bloomberg to compete with the gun rights grassroots.
Gun rights advocates have a serious, and growing, manpower advantage. The only thing that politicians care about more than money is votes.
“However, the big news is Bloomberg pledging millions to local races.”
Trump’s base state. Hm....
Obama meets Bloomberg as he prepares order on guns to rescind the Bill of Rights in his "fundamental transformation of America" from the land of the free to the land of the totalitarian police state.
From wiki:
Gun show loophole, gun law loophole, Brady law loophole (or Brady bill loophole), private sale loophole, or private sale exemption is a political term in the United States referring to sales of firearms by private sellers, including those done at gun shows, dubbed the “secondary market”.[1] The term refers to the viewpoint that there is an inadequacy in federal law, under which “[a]ny person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the State where he resides as long as he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms”.
Under federal law, private-party sellers are not required to perform background checks on buyers, record the sale, or ask for identification.
The CT state constitution has written in it “the right to keep and bear arms” and it hasn’t stopped the laws banning guns.
Private party sales.
Yup...very serious
Gun grabbers have figured out top (DC)to down (local) gun laws aren’t going to work...never have..
So buy and fill local seats with fellow travelers and pass local gun laws...
Typically, you need just a majority of three people to pass a local law in a city council or commission...
Hardly anybody pays attention to local politics...
There will be thousands of laws on the books before we know it...
Thanks very much FRiend! :)
Orders from tyrants
Thanks for the recap, Laz.
Bfl reading.
How would they know who is selling that many guns privately? In Arizona, as many other states selling a gun privately is no more complicated than selling a lawnmower. Without registration this is all meaningless. That is the end game, I know, maybe this is their attempt to get there.
It’s good Obama is talking to Bloomberg because Bloomberg is a Total Failure with gun control
LOL!
Drag his azz out of the White Hut and send him to ISIS!
“Private” party sales happen in the parking lot of your favorite Walmart and that has nothing to do with gun sales. Full auto also!
A couple egomaniacal would-be emperors who don’t particularly like the United States Constitution.
I’m sure they would put undercover agents in place follow various private sellers of guns at gun shows and online to monitor how many they sell. As soon as they sell one gun over the limit they would charge them will selling every single gun they’ve sold unlawfully by not conducting a background check on each. If 50 guns is the limit then the person would get charged with 51 counts of unlawful dealing in firearms - enough of a case to put someone away for a long time.
