So dominant is Hillary Clinton's polling in the presidential primaries, notes the press critic Howard Kurtz, that the media have essentially stopped paying attention to the Democratic race at all. The logic, for a media organization, is simple: Why lavish limited resources on a fait accompli? The Democrats, after all, have spoken. They are fully ready for (or perhaps fully resigned to) Hillary.
That's certainly not the case on the Republican side, where, we are told (ad nauseam), that the race is still "wide open." With "no clear frontrunner" on the GOP side, the contrast between the Republican and Democratic contests could not be clearer. It will be Hillary representing the Dems, and it could be just about anybody (well, maybe not anybody) who ends up leading the ticket for the GOP.
Yet are the races really all that different?
According to the two latest national polls, conducted as the furor over Trump's call for a temporary moratorium on Muslim migration reached a fever pitch, the real estate magnate leads the Republican field by either 23 or 27 points. Tuesday's Washington Post/ABC News poll has Trump with more than double the support of the second place finisher, Ted Cruz. Indeed, Trump's lead over his primary opponents is larger than both Ronald Reagan's was in the 1980 race, and George H. W Bush's was in the 1988 contest.
The latest national polls of the Democrats, meanwhile, show Secretary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders by a mere 20 or 19 points. And her support appears to be plateauing, while Trump's numbers are surging. All of which is to say, on a national level, Trump is clearly in a stronger position than Clinton is.
Looking at the crucial first two states, Clinton does appear stronger in Iowa than Trump. According to the latest polling averages, Trump is up by only one point in Iowa, whereas Clinton leads Sanders by more than 15. But Trump is in much better shape in New Hampshire. He's up by 16 points in the Granite State, while Clinton is clinging to a tenuous five point lead.
So, does this mean that Trump is a shoo-in for the Republican nomination? Hardly. He has a fight on his hands (good thing he's in such great shape) â but then again, by the same standard, Secretary Clinton does too. The media should behave accordingly.
It sure would be nice to have the pundits talking about the “Trump democrats’ for the next couple of decades.
We can only hope...

We heard the bs comments like thls from the Californicator faux elite conservatives before Reagan 1st victory and even his second.
We, also, heard that he had been a democrat and he was divorced.
You and some other Trump haters are playing God on this issue. You are pretending to know that Hillary will be the Dem nominee. Only God knows the future. Hillary has both health and alcohol issues. [ You can find your own links. There are thousands available with a few obvious keywords.] She is far from well.
Just the other day she was two hours late for a major campaign event. No explanation. That is not normal behavior for a frontrunner. She has highly paid aides whose job is to get her to important events on time. Two hours late isn’t even close.
Before worrying too much over things only God knows, let’s work with what we know for sure. Trump is drawing upwards of ten thousand wildly enthusiastic supporters routinely. That level of energy and enthusiasm is a very good start.
Based on a glance at some of the threads on FR in recent days, many conservatives are threatening to stay home rather than vote for Trump.
.............
That’s part of the reason Trump would nominate Cruz as his veep.
Yeah, but would Cruz want to be Trump’s VP?
Absolutely.
Go Trump! Trump is the only one who is not desperate for money. The rest are bought/corrupted . don’t believe a word they say. ONLY Trump can save freedom and return America to what it once was a free and capitalistic country!
It would be pretty cool if Cruz is VP and President of the Senate!
Dunno, it has a maraschino flavor from here.
Maybe that IS the situation — at the moment.
Part of it could be that Trump needs time to grow on Democrats again. Being party jealous, they view him as a turncoat at this moment. However, this doesn’t have to prevail in the end, viz. the example of Ronald Reagan, an ex-Democrat.
I believe God brings people on the scene for roles. He isn’t a random dice tosser. “The lot lands in the lap, but the decision is the Lord’s.”
Cruz seems to be under preparation for “something.” What it is, we may not be able to see clearly from here.
I’m just saying that while some polls show Trump far ahead of Cruz, other polls show Cruz doing better against Hillary than Trump.
In the end, the only poll that matters is the one that has Conservatives beating the Liberals in the general election.
Trump, in the general election, currently appears to do worse than other Republican candidates.
Just talking **POLLS**, like the one mentioned in the original post above.
Maybe in a forced plebiscite Cruz could actually toast Trump, against Hillary.
What is the inspiration factor for the two, is the question I’d have. So far we still don’t drag anyone to the voting booth.
Polling this far out from the General election re head to heads is pretty much a waste of time. Too much can change between now and November.
Btw, there is a thread up re Hillary’s health right now. According to Ed Klein, it’s a lot worse th an I realized.

If she fades out, then the contest looks like it would be “versus Bernie.”
Oh, could Trump mop the floor with Bernie.
It might be like:
Cruz to Bernie: “You’re all washed up on the Constitution.”
Trump to Bernie: “What a freaking idiot, look at the America you’d wish on us!”
And Bernie would go the way of the 2nd term attempt of Carter.
And actually that could end up even being a “versus Hillary” scenario for Trump. Hillary has been pretty cautious so far but she would not be able to hide her positions forever, which probably would involve some pretty breathtaking global sellouts.
Once you have violated the Constitution, to Cruz that’s about as bad as you can get. Trump’s idea of a hell goes a lot deeper.
Hundreds of migrants arriving in Norway had mobile phones containing images of executions

Hundreds of asylum-seekers entering Norway were discovered to have images of executions and severed head on their mobile phones.
The revelation comes amid heightened fears that ISIS is exploiting the migrant crisis to smuggle fighters into Europe, following last month attacks in Paris. Police admitted that the explosion of refugees crossing into the country over the summer and in recent months meant that security checks were less thorough than required, and were not checking the background of those entering the country.
