I don’t think these people read the Bible very often. A precursor to Mohammed? There were no non-Jewish prophets, and there were none after Jesus, being no longer needed. Rejecting money and the ruling class? (sounds like a socialist.) Where is that written? Unkempt, ranting, hanging out with prostitutes and fanatics? He preached to sinners, and he didn’t cohort with fanatics unless you consider all religious people “fanatics”.

After all, jokes abound about what Jesus “would have wanted” or “would do” regarding everything from gun control to warmongering, sexism to the Catholic church’s billions, with most sad punchlines centering around the fact that there’s almost nothing about modern Christianity that Jesus would have ever abided.
