CBS) - Chicago may be an ISIS target, media reports out of Switzerland say.
Geneva is already stepping up security outside the United Nations. Besides Chicago, also mentioned as a possible North American target is Toronto, Canada.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports Chicago has long been a target of terrorists since President Obama was first elected - first by Al Qaeda, and now ISIS.
Authorities say the threat in Switzerland is specific, but it's less so for Chicago and Toronto.
While Swiss authorities are on alert, they are not cancelling activities like Geneva's popular costume parade scheduled for this weekend.
Still, the intelligence generated by U.S. assets overseas and shared with the Swiss indicated "extremists also discussed the idea of launching attacks in Chicago and Toronto."
A spokesman for the FBI in Chicago said the agency is aware of the information.
"While we are aware of no specific or credible threat to Chicago at this time, the FBI remains vigilant," a spokesperson said.
Chicago police are taking no extreme measures yet.

Should he manage to still be the PM in 2017, the US would do better to only talk to the likes of Stephen Harper or Rob Ford.
In the case of the latter, it would serve to humiliate Trudeau. That, and Rob Ford has a personality that appears to be similar to Trump’s own - unafraid to be offensive to the “right people”.
Terrorist attack on Chicago? After a century of Democrats and their allies running the show, how would one know?
It is a gun free zone in the sense that criminals can use a gun, free of the fear of having another one used against them.
Such zones also help terrorists by giving a target rich environment that won’t fight back - for fear of violating the law.

A violent weekend left four people dead and at least 52 others injured, including a 10-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, in shootings across Chicago.
This marks the second weekend in a row where more than 50 people were shot in Chicago. Last weekend, eight people were killed and at least 45 others were wounded, reportedly making it the city’s most violent two-day weekend since Father’s Day 2013.

I would be surprised if terrorists bothered attacking in Chicago.
1. They would be outgunned in the officially “gun-free” Windy City.
2. If they succeeded despite the superior firepower of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s criminal voters, their attack would be a minor footnote, a blip compared to business as usual.
Why bother with a terrorist attack if no one will notice?
Who says they wouldn’t try to recruit the criminal population? A few thugs here, a couple of corrupt officials there, a tipped cow to set the event off, and their attack gets the desired attention.
That, and there’s no shortage of targets in the better-off parts of the metropolitan area.
There’s good targets and plenty of supporters in Chicago. I just think they would rather make the front page nationwide. Most people hardly notice another shooting in Chicago.

There are not that many ISIS members killed by the U.S. in a month or two, in fact it is a big deal reported on national news when they kill two or three using a few million dollars worth of flight hours and munitions. (#ISLIVESMATTER)
