The two Afghan nationals who were training at a Georgia Air Force and were reported missing earlier this week have reportedly been identified Thursday.
Several federal law enforcement agencies are searching for Mirwais Kohistani and Shirzad Rohullah, unnamed Air Force officials told Channel 2 Action News. The officials said the two men were a part of a 23-man group learning to fly and maintain an A-29 fighter plane at Moody Air Force Base outside Valdosta.
The Homeland Security and State Department have taken the lead, the Moody Air Force officials said in a statement Thursday and reiterated that they didn’t believe the men posed a threat.
The Air Force said in a statement Tuesday Kohistani and Rohullah didn’t report Monday to “their regular maintenance training†with the 81st Fight Squadron.
The two men have been training at the base since February and “were screened prior to their arrival in the United States more than a year ago,†according to the statement. "

Officially, these guys are AWOL because they didn't want to return to Afghanistan.
Pardon me, but if you're looking to immigrate to the US, going AWOL from your post isn't a particularly good start.

Why take so long to name them and why now?
My guess is that the base brass thought that these guys would turn up pretty quickly. And they haven't. Now people are getting worried.

They should pay a coyote, come across the border with a backpack full of drugs and get fraudulent ID like everybody else.
My guess is that they met up with other jihadists who are hiding them and will go jihad within a week.
The same thing happened last year with three Afghans who were AWOL from a U.S. base and then were caught trying to seek asylum in Canada.
It took a day to find out their names?
None of them should be in this country.
Or the White House.
Also happened frequently with visiting Soviet and Cuban athaletes in the 60s and 70s.

Worse than that. The Air Force knew their names when they went AWOL on Monday (7th); they didn't release their names until late Thursday (10th), because they pose "no threat."

This doesn’t smell like jihadists on the loose. It smells more like to rational fellas who don’t want to return home to the s&&&hole of Afghanistan.

Thanks for that. I think you’re right. They don’t assimilate any more than absolutely necessary and they rarely cooperate with law enforcement so these guys will get lost in the maze.
The day they were found missing a Freeper identified them with photos right here on FR:)
I have ONE question:
“How many of the other 21 remaining in the group have been given a test which will show if they know anything about the 2 others, and are there any more of the 21 that are planning to join the other 2 ..??
Apparently, the people at the Georgia AFB are not concerned (publically); but this is such a HUGE RED FLAG .. I’m disgusted that nobody seems to be paying attention.
