Ted Cruz Questions Donald Trump's 'Judgment' to Be President (Uh oh)
NY Times ^ | Maggie Haberman and Matt Flegenheimer

Posted on 12/10/2015 7:49:24 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Senator Ted Cruz raised questions on Wednesday at a private fund-raiser about whether Donald J. Trump, his bombastic rival for the Republican presidential nomination, has the "judgment" to be president and mused about "strength," according to two people who attended the event in Manhattan

The remarks from Mr. Cruz came as he has studiously avoided public criticism of Mr. Trump, who is handily beating the rest of the Republican field in opinion polls.

Mr. Cruz has positioned himself to be the beneficiary of any erosion of support for Mr. Trump. While he has said he doesn't agree with Mr. Trump's proposal for a ban on Muslim immigrants entering the United States, he has taken pains to praise Mr. Trump for making immigration a focal point of his candidacy.

But inside a conference room in a Madison Avenue office, with about 70 people pressed around a table, Mr. Cruz gave a candid assessment of the race, lumping Mr. Trump with another candidate whose supporters the Texas senator hopes to poach, Ben Carson, according to two people present for the remarks.

“We need a president like Trump who isn’t afraid to shoot from the hip and pop off with weird thoughts.”

No we don’t. This country does not need someone with the temperament of a 3rd grader in a schoolyard smack down contest as its president. I am leaning strongly towards Cruz right now.

BULLCRAP — Cruz did not do what the headline suggests...read the article. The New York Slimes is simply trying to stir up a Cruz-Trump battle or battles between Cruz supporters and Trump supporters. I think that both candidates and MOST (but, unfortunately, not all) supporters of the two candidates will not be stupid enough to fall for the NY Slimes’ deceit.

Which weird thought would that be? A temporary muslim immigrant ban until we can get a grip on terrorism perhaps?

The 14 people killed in San Bernardino might disagree with you on that.

er. Cruz is running to become president. Of course he think he has better judgment than Trump to be president. What do you expect him to say? That Trump does, but vote for me?

This is fine. Ted needs to quit hiding in the shadows of the Donald.

Not to say that Ted has to criticize and blast Trump. But it’s time Cruz stood on his own and separate himself from Trump.

This comes from the NYLies. Therefore, I need sources and proof.

Otherwise, it's just more made-up s**t by the NYT.

Bad move? Wtf are you talking about? You think Ted should wear a muzzle and go on with some pretend run for POTUS?

[Trump is the Republican Biden!]

That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. I’ve seen immature comments by liberals on Trump that made more sense.

Would be a mistake, there goes the VP slot.

According to many Cruz supporters, here, Cruz would NEVER even consider a VP slot, under Trump. Why choose a running mate whose base is completely against you?

Plenty of experienced names in the ‘Make America Great, Again’ hat, for Trump to choose from.

The result of a cat fight at this time between those two would be CAT-astrophic for both and a real coup for the GOPe.

not kidding either

This is where I part ways with Cruz.

I liked them both, Trump and Cruz.
For different reasons.

No doubt Cruz is a true conservative and great man.

However, I have come to the conclusion that only Trumps skill set can
change this country.

Trump actually is a lot like Biden with his weird statements, and his followers resemble the cult that Obama had.

I think Ted senses (like everyone else did before him) that it’s slipping away. We’re now 50 days out, and in most polls he’s 20 points behind. In normal politics, that’s just insurmountable.

True, considering how fastidiously Cruz has avoided attacking Trump in the past
