A state corrections department employee is being investigated for a possible hate crime after she was captured on video aggressively confronting two Muslim men who were praying in a Castro Valley park over the weekend, officials said Wednesday.

(CO Denise) Slader apparently made a comment to a friend about the men, and one of them walked over and tried to engage her in a discussion about religion. The conversation escalated to the point where Slader began shouting at the men “your God is Satan,” “Allah is Satan,” and “the Quran is evil,” (Park District spokeswoman Carolyn) Jones said. …Thoughtcrime is hatecrime. Wonder if someone went to a park and waved a Confederate flag after the Charleston church shooting. Right or wrong probably would of had a similar reaction. Doing a Muslim religious ceremony in a California public park three days after other Muslims killed 14 people in a terrorist attack was a bad idea. Stupid hurts.

How is that a hate crime? The Muzzie listened in to her private conversation with a friend, and approached her first, engaging her in a conversation about his religion. Just because he didn’t like what she said, doesn’t make it a hate crime. If anything, he accosted her.

I don’t think the “hate crime” charges will stick, but it’s probably assault.
