I think what the reporter was trying to say is that they SEEMED like regular people, but he was wrong about that also.
They did not seem like regular people except on a very surface description that did not include bombs and ammo.

The closet with the new baby toys “likely gifts to the couple” remarked a reporter. Those gifts are probably from the baby shower given for Fooruked and his wife by the very same people those 2 “normal” people murdered and maimed.

You are right. The reported was making a good point but it might not have been the one he was trying to make. By all accounts until they went terrorist he was living a normal life with a job, family, friends, etc. He was completely below the radar and as far as we know he never even got a parking ticket. Then without warning he goes Jihadi, abandons his kid and starts killing people he knew and worked with for 5 years. Perhaps inadvertently the point the reporter made was, how can you adequately vet a muslim? How can you trust them, even ones you have known and interacted with for years. The answer is YOU CAN”T.
