You are right. The reported was making a good point but it might not have been the one he was trying to make. By all accounts until they went terrorist he was living a normal life with a job, family, friends, etc. He was completely below the radar and as far as we know he never even got a parking ticket. Then without warning he goes Jihadi, abandons his kid and starts killing people he knew and worked with for 5 years. Perhaps inadvertently the point the reporter made was, how can you adequately vet a muslim? How can you trust them, even ones you have known and interacted with for years. The answer is YOU CAN”T.
It seems that if the government was doing it’s job, red flags would have been raised when he went to Saudi Arabia to get a bride. Certainly flags should have been raised on the wife, she should not have been allowed to come into the country.
