PALATINE, Illinois, December 3, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – The suburban Chicago school district sued by the Obama administration for refusing a teen boy access to its girls' locker rooms, bathrooms, and shower facilities may have to concede to the administration's demands in the 11th hour.
With the school's federal funding at risk, along with possible litigation, Township High School District 211 in Palatine, IL will hold an emergency board meeting tonight to consider an agreement with the administration as its 30-day notice for the district to comply comes to an end.
The Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights condemned the district last month for not allowing the biological male who identifies as female to use the women's facilities.
The male student sued the district in 2014 for access to the female locker room, and the district agreed to let the student use a separate, private room instead.
District 211 Superintendent Daniel Cates had said there was a need to balance the privacy rights of 12,000 students with other particular, individual needs of another group of students, and that the district believed that allowing the student to use the facilities of the opposite gender infringed on the privacy of all the students served by the district.
School officials further attempted to resolve the issue in October by installing privacy curtains for the transgender student's use in unused areas of the girls' locker room and another around a shower.
However, this was rejected by the feds' Office for Civil Rights because it would force the student to use the private areas, as opposed to giving him the choice of what facilities he would use.
The district has repeatedly held it is not in violation of the law. Transgender students are allowed to use the bathroom and play on sports teams of their self-identified gender and have their gender and name changed on school records.
Neither district officials nor the Department of Education offered comment or released details, according to the Chicago Tribune. The federal government must sign off on any agreement the board produces.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, the location chosen to accommodate potential high attendance.

Shut down all toilets in the building and put porta-potties out in the yard for students and teachers.
This is also how you know what a complete lie liberal Feminism is. They constantly scream about how every man is a rapist on a hair trigger and how girls and young women are being victimized left and right, but then when a mentally disturbed young man wants to put himself in close contact with naked teenage girls, they are all for it.
Time to cancel all PE classes and their sports programs. Set up some port a potties. Of course, the potties will be tipped in the first hour.
Best to pull every kid out and homeschool them.
Parents have forgotten they own and are the boss of their schools. We the People are the boss of the feds.

Oh believe me, the parents are out in force. This sadly is in my district and from teachers I’ve spoken to, this entire freakin mess is due to the PARENTS of the little freak.
The ‘shim’ was happy with the arrangement, shim’s parents made it known they were not accepting that option.
Conant is right around the corner from me, I can’t wait to go and I have NO doubt the place will be packed!
Discrimination is bad. I used to throw away rotten meat, but now that I know not to discriminate, I just cook it up and feed it to my kids without discriminating between healthy and deadly. The correct answer is to treat everyone “equally” because equal is good.
My suggestion - close the locker rooms until this predator/psycho/pervert/whatever graduates. That way everyone will be denied the same amenities and no lawsuit. The school system will not be discriminating against a so-called girl for something as trivial as not actually being a girl. They can save a lot of money on legal fees. The added bonus that this predator will be blamed for his actions and presumably shunned to an even greater extent is a natural consequence. I approve of natural consequences [although I’ll admit that as a teenager I would also have enjoyed having access to the girls’ locker room].

Too busy living their lives to be bothered with upsetting the apple cart of free government sponsored daycare.
I expect that the little pervert will “slip and fall” on his first day in the girls locker room and will need to be hospitalized for a couple months.
Of course the pervert will say that all the girls in there harassed him and beat him into a bloody pulp, but you know how perverts lie, and how head injuries cause people to imagine things that never happened.
Several month later, when the perp gets released form the hospital, I expect that he will slip and fall again on his first trip to the girls locker room. Those floors can be slippery after all.
As long as the pervert is a male, and he will be male until he dies, he should never be allowed in the girls locker room. If the school won’t stop him, then accidents do happen. Girls locker rooms are just not safe for boys to be in.
It’s probably a federal crime to beat up a drag queen, er, a transsexual.
