“Trump position: They broke the law by coming here illegally so we canât reward them by letting them stay and work. Theyâre all going home. And then, per Trumpâs plan, the âgoodâ ones are going to come right back in legally once theyâre been removed. Why thatâs any better in practice than Cruzâs position, I donât know; arguably itâs much worse since it would involve the enormous expense of mass deportations with no intention of barring the deported permanently from the U.S.”
Below is a copy of your post 16 without the weird special characters.

Vin, while I agree to a point, the fact is you remove all of the illegals. Then you vet them and start from scratch.
Does Trump enforce a plan that demands they be able to support themselves? I wouldn’t be surprised.
How do you get rid of all the criminal aliens, if you don’t deport and vet? While I’d rather these folks get in the back of the line in Mexico, this is still the best offer we’ve had.
We’re not going to get a better one in my opinion.
You can see how the others avoid this like the plague. IMO < it’s Trump of the highway on this issue.
I disagree - it is a big expense if done wrong, but it should be a one-time expense, instead of the ongoing expense of all the government benefits they get forever.
And, if done right, many, if not most, will self-deport. Especially if we make it more painful to stay than it is to leave.
Not sure we have the balls to do that, though.
For one thing, we don’t have to pay to deport them all. Under Operation Wetback, 25% were deported and 75% left on their own.
And the huge difference between Trump’s and Cruz’ plan is Trump gets to choose who comes back in. Those with skills we need most likely. They also get to compete with those waiting in line, not push ahead of them. With Cruz everybody gets to stay and those waiting don’t get a chance. And we don’t get any control over who is here.
That is amnesty. Trump’s is not - they have to leave.
