Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday announced he has dismissed Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, citing a lack of public trust in the police leadership in the wake of the high-profile shooting that eventually led to a white officer being charged with first-degree murder in the death of a black teen shot 16 times in a Southwest Side street last year.
"Superintendent McCarthy knows that a police officer is only as effective as when he has the trust of those he serves," Emanuel said at a City Hall news conference where he appointed a task force to look at police accountability.
Emanuel said he and McCarthy on Sunday began discussing the future of the Police Department and "the undeniable fact that the public trust in the leadership of the department has been shaken and eroded."
"This morning, I formally asked for his resignation," said Emanuel, who said McCarthy can be proud of his record. "Now is the time for fresh eyes and new leadership to confront the challenges the department and our community and our city are facing as we go forward."
Emanuel said he asked new First Deputy Superintendent John Escalante to serve as acting superintendent during a "thorough" search. . .

Let the purges begin!.........................
I doubt the public trust in the rest of the department is all that high either.
Might not be so bad if the actual problem officials and officers were purged.
When police are merciful to a subject, usually that is (in more than one way) mighty white of them. Not that this attitude can’t be shared in all skins, but racism is a virulent modern vice especially self-racism.
The police officers on trial in Baltimore are three white and three black. I don’t think racism is the prime factor, it’s a “US vs THEM” mentality, on BOTH sides of the law.........................
Yeah, the prosecutor should go, too. She was sitting on the evidence for over a year.
Next up, an Obama approved BLM activist as police chief. New metric, the department won’t be acceptable until the same proportion of whites and blacks in the general population are killed.
Mob rule.
After seeing the video, it took a whole year to decide to indict?.............or did the GJ take forever?.........................
Whoa, we were talking about Chicago here and this particular shooting. How did Baltimore ever pop up?
New Superintendent (kommissar) to be named Beria.
It’s long overdue especially with McCarthy.
He’s the same jackbooted thug who said that anyone with a CCW who is seen carrying a gun should be immediately shot by the police and with his blessing.

That’s not a cop, he’s just a psychologically deranged murderer hiding behind a badge.
So I guess we can expect Rahm to fire himself for the con job on the voters, keeping the videos hidden until he had the black votes in the bag.
Mob Rule Leftist Thug fires Mob Rule Leftist Thug.
And even yet, there could be some scapegoating going on in Baltimore. What does the stack of supervisors look like going up the food chain? What philosophies do they profess?
Why the delay in releasing the video? Was one of Chicago’s many corrupt officials seeking to get through an election first before the video could be shown?
^ ^ THAT! ^ ^
Because when you look in the dictionary under “politics” it says: “Synonym: Chicago”
“Thanks for stonewalling through the election. And now...under the bus!!!”
“Yeah, the prosecutor should go, too. She was sitting on the evidence for over a year.”
And how about ole Rahm? The fish stinks from the head and I will bet that Emmanuel was really the “cause for the year’s delay” in prosecuting this cop. It’s only because the judge forced out the video of the murder that any of this rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic known as Chicago is even under way.
