Texas Sen. Ted Cruz declined to close the door to a potential pathway to legal status for the 11 million people in the U.S. illegally Friday, saying he wouldnât elaborate on his plans for them until after the border is secure.
Seeking to carve out a space between real estate mogul Donald Trump, who is calling for the forcible deportation of those in the U.S. illegally, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who co-authored the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform bill that included a pathway to citizenship, Cruz would not explicitly rule out a pathway to legal status for the undocumented.

TIME runs a pathetic smear job, and conservatives fall for it, and those who support other candidates try to capitalize on it.
I guess Cruz needs to repeat his stance about once a week to reassure people, because he’s been saying the same thing for years now-—no pathway. He always phrases it the same way, that we have to secure the border first before we discuss anything else, and that’s absolutely true.
Thanks for posting the link to his immigration plan, and for noting that Ted is in favor of deportations. It’s also worth noting that he advocated a border wall as far back as 2011.
You just confirmed my statement.
New flash, Cruz is a senator, the gang of eight bill passed in the Senate so Cruz did not stop it. It died in the House when millions of angry voters melted all the phones in D.C.
Rand Paul is pretty good on immigration too. No where near as good as Trump though.
This is one of my problems with Ted Cruz. Its not that hard to say deportation.
Such a copout. It's like we, the United States of America, can't do more than one thing at a time. "First, secure the border, then..." "After the wall is built, then..." Can't we build a wall and WHILE we're building the wall, do something else at the same time? People who say "first this, then that," are only making excuses and buying time. They really don't want to do anything at all but keep the illegal flow coming, and please the big donors, and they think they'll fool the American people with their "this, then that" baloney.
I read that Rafael Cruz says Ted is one of the Christian chosen anointed as "kings" to take control of all sectors of society, an agenda commonly referred to as the "Seven Mountains" mandate.
See? We're good to go in these prophetic times. Ain't no one puttin' nothin' over on US. We got US a KING!
Maybe he should quit coaching his phrasing in lawyer-speak and just tell it like it is, ala Trump.
I, for one, am sick and tired of the parsing of phrases, the non-answer answers.
It takes anyone BUT a politician to utter: ENFORCE THE LAW AND DEPORT.
The most serious issue that the USA faces is the ongoing illegal invasion of America, the creation of a divisible and manipulable multi-cultural populace, and overpopulation by the third worlders. Any politician afraid to address this head on does so only because he is afraid of being called racist or face the wrath of rich leftists.
The invasion is intentionally perpetrated by the same leftist elites that throw PC in our faces, create double standards of hate crime, that tout the destruction of our freedom of speech, and elimination of our right to bear arms, all so as to expand their own power and diminish the power of the people.
I don’t read the NYTimes. Cruz can be trusted 1000X times more than the NYTimes.
Cruz defines amnesty as a pathway to citizenship.
Exclusively.
However he has stated many times, going back to 2013, that he would legalize those here now, without citizenship. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/us/cruz-tries-to-claim-the-middle-ground-on-immigration.html?_r=1&
Ted Cruz has always been a straight talker. For those too deliberately obtuse to get it, I’ll repeat it one more time: he has always been against a pathway to citizenship, while recognizing that we must secure the border first.
This stuff about oh, we need anybody but a politician is nothing but cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face couched in emotionalism.
We have the best Constitutional conservative candidate since Reagan-—he may be even better-—and I am not going to throw that opportunity aside just because he’s a “politician.” You’re just looking for an excuse to support a liberal because what he says makes you feel good.
Not me.

Also, Ted Cruz has fought relentlessly against amnesty while a US Senator.
It is creepy.
If our laws were enforced, employers of illegals sanctioned, and all giveaways stopped for those here illegally, they would go home on their own. There is no need to round up and deport. Use of fraudulent Social Security numbers and ID theft should be reason enough to criminalize those that would remain.
The Dems continue to thrive on creating a voting under class that is dependent on handouts, while the corporate Republican Party rewards traitors that outsourced our economy and imported cheap labor. Both parties are fraudulent traitors working against the prosperity of the USA people.
