Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson denounced "hateful rhetoric" across the political spectrum in the wake of a shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood facility that left three people dead.
Abortion rights supporters have said that such rhetoric has motivated violence against Planned Parenthood clinics around the country.
"There is no question that you know hateful rhetoric no matter which side it comes from - right or left - is something that is detrimental to our society," Carson said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday when asked about their claims. "Our strength in this country has traditionally been in our unity. And we are allowing all kinds of circumstances to divide us and make us hateful toward each other. And the rhetoric is extremely immature, divisive and is not helpful when you have outside forces - global Islamic radical jihadists who want to destroy us."
He added that there's "No question the hateful rhetoric exacerbates the situation" and urged "intelligent, civil discussion" about differences. Asked whether opponents of abortion should tone down their rhetoric, he said both sides should do so.

No, we definitely do not condone that.
And when neither party or any law enforcement agency will do anything about the selling of baby parts, which is against the law, I am really not surprised at all that someone might decide to do what he did.
Try him for murder, and send him on his way.
That’s how we handle crime in this country, Mr. Obama, and we do not handle crime by rendering law abiding citizens defenseless.
where was the hateful rhetoric talk when the guy shot all the Christians?
Why are so many so willing to take the medias bait?
The vast predominance of negative opinion has been toward guns and gun owners. Anyone who attempts to lump all controversial opinion together - both negative, neutral, and positive - renders his own opinion worthless and frankly kinda silly.
As in “I took a hammer to my mother” or “I stabbed this kid in the belt” or how about this one “I had a lock in my hand and slammed it into this kids face”....is this what you Carson?
I can’t believe anyone that believes in God would vote for someone like this....true he has been a great doctor, but that’s as far as it goes, and remember, he told people where to go for abortions....so his hands aren’t clean either....
Was/is he courting new voters? Puzzling
Did he improve his position by doing so?
He called the potential terrorists among them as RABID DOGS, how did he distinguish which ones they were?
Did the same thing with the Nazi bit on guns.
Let's talk about the pyramids a bit.
He's a fruitcake.
His very best friend is a felon....medicare fraud IIRC.
“Hateful rhetoric” in this case can mean ONLY ONE THING: saying things like “Planned Parenthood chops up babies and sells their bodyparts.”
So, nobody is allowed to say “Planned Parenthood chops up babies and sells their bodyparts” anymore.
Got it? Everybody stop saying “Planned Parenthood chops up babies and sells their bodyparts.”
Also, nobody is allowed to say anymore that “Hillary supports funding Planned Parenthood, which chops up babies and sells their bodyparts” anymore.
In fact, nobody is allowed to say “ALL Democrats support funding Planned Parenthood, which chops up babies and sells their bodyparts” anymore.
This is what I mean when I say that Ben Carson is a flake.
Guess it is the "Meek shall inherit the Earth" thing.
My Sunday Class teacher commented on Trump being scary to him. I didn't say a word, but they all do know my politics and I'm sure they know I am for Trump/Cruz.
A Great Doctor??? are we so sure about that? I read a book a few years ago about this young Dr., who managed to work his way up the ladder all the while KILLING patients, when found out, they dismissed and he was hired by another hospital. This went on and on and on for years he managed to KILL many patients all over the world. Forgot his name.
The medical profession failed to alert the other hospitals when he applied to them, it was all kept hush/hush no one to speak ill of their very own professionals brothers, and they simply wanted to pass this criminal Dr. out of their hair. Sort of like the Teachers Union you know.
My point is we don't really know about Carson, he had it seems many malpractice suits, that were dismissed according to Google sites, but were they really dismissed or paid off. It's all online. I just say all this as a query. I am not convinced he was a Great Doctor but that he was more of a great black Dr..
I can understand the ‘nice person’ thing, but Carson, unless he’s lying by what he wrote in his books, is not ‘nice’....Thanks.....
It is not the rhetoric except for the lies. Mostly it is the action.
It is these types that got the first brown elected. They simply do not have the ability to recognize danger in sheep's clothing. But the first to scream Help Us Lord.
For those that have eyes, let them see, for those that have ears, let them hear. They ignore that.
Can you help me out?
Spengler’s”Decline of the West.” There are two volumes translated circa 1920’s. The quote was from memory.
Yep I agree....
This is one of the least self-damaging things Carson has said lately, so I’ll give him a half a point for it.
Thanks, that is a profound statement.
I was raised not to hate.
It screwed me up for decades.
I could never reconcile so many things in day to day life, even the most ordinary things.
Sorry, but the more I hear about Carson, the more I think he’s a flake.
