Israeli defense minister Moshe âBogeyâ Yaâalon confirmed Sunday that Russian military aircraft, on at least one occasion, have breached Israeli airspaceâwithout confrontation.
âWhen we understood that the Russians were planning to act inside Syria, we immediately metâalso the prime ministerâwith [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, including the [Israeli] chief of staff and the assistant chief of staffâ¦we created an open channel for coordination so as to prevent misunderstandings, because Russian planes are not trying to attack us and therefore it is not necessary to automaticallyâeven if there is a mistakeâto shoot them down,â Yaâalon said, according to the Times of Israel.
Yaâalonâs confirmation came after Amos Gilad, who leads of the Defense Ministryâs political-security division, publicly admitted that Russian aircraft operating over Syria have breached Israeli airspace more than onceâand without incident, thanks to the open channels Israel enjoys with the Russian military and President Vladimir Putin.
The admission is significant for two reasons. One is that Israel is sending a subtle rebuke to Turkey, with which its relations have deteriorated ever since the rise of Islamist president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Essentially, Israel is saying that Turkey could have avoided shooting down a Russian military jet last week, even if it had crossed into Turkish airspace (Russia says that it did not).
The other is that Israel is sending an implicit signal to the world that it is operating more independently of the U.S., and that it has forged its own relationship with Russia, though their interests are often at odds.

Your reply is ridiculous and you are surrendering the use of logic to prejudicial emotions of hate. There was no justifiable reason for Turkey to shoot down that plane. If it were a U.S. plane, you would take a completely different view. The U.S. has been accused of violating air space many times. This was a tiny tip of space and Turkey was under no threat. They claim to not be in the Syrian war. Our U.S. Air Force general said Turkey was out of line. Israel says Turkey was out of line. You don’t. Are you going to smear the U.S. General and Israel for having the same opinion I have?
Absolutely not.
And secondly, the US generally apologizes when warned, Unless of course we want to infuriate them intentionally.
Now....let me get deep into your bullshit. You are following a bunch of agent provocateurs who have been in the country for decades. Many are or have been in our higher education system which is the best place to hide and play with skulls full of shit.
Yes, I will take on any American idiot who thinks otherwise. Any American, because in my mind they are far too dangerous and wrong for me to avoid challenging them.
Like this guy! One of my all time favorites!

To him I say.......Nyet!
Obama is a laughing stalk (sic). No one respects him and the only people that fear him are US citizens. Israel knows they can’t count on Obama but Iran can depend on Obama.

Unless you’ve had too much Wild Turkey, in which case you shout Allahualakbaar! a lot and make a speech about how evil Russia is as the MIG catches fire and crashes, and then claim afterwards toat it was all a misunderstanding.
When Russia started really hammering the tanker trucks carrying oil ISIS was stealing from the Syrian fields is when, I’m certain, Turkey felt the need to shoot down Russia’s jet.
There are other reports of Obama turning a blind eye to Turkey helping to finance ISIS by selling this oil. I don’t doubt that at all. Erdogan and Obama are both unhinged evil men.

Part of this whole story happened in Libya where Barack Hussein & Shrillary were funnelling weapons to the creatures who would become ISIS...shipping them from Libya, through Turkey and then to the budding future ISIS.
Nonsense.
Unless it is a river or shoreline, a border is impossible to see from the air. They are lines on a map, not on the ground.
Absolutely not.
ColdH, what is your view of the shooting down of KAL007, in Soviet airspace, in 1983?
Sarcasm.
I think those responsible should have been taken to task, but they were not. (If I recall)
I have few memories of the incident, but it seems to me that the speculation was making a case that the plane flew over a restricted area, and perhaps was a bit off it’s normal line. It was some sort of knee jerk reaction.
Can’t compare to this incident..here you have what is supposed to be a major power engaging in military strikes in a country allied to it, yet it also thumbs it’s nose at selected adjacent countries, commits border incursions multiple times and does nothing to correct it.
IMO they are so married to the idea that they can do this without consequence (as they have been doing globally) that they and some here on the forum are offended when a violated country finally does something.
Again, this was about more than a series of border intrusions. It was about what the Russians were doing along that border as well with the Turkmen.
It seems to me that Russia, in that case, was protecting Iran and it’s Quds forces, rather than Assad. But I digress..
I’m not saying that what Turkey did was the exactly right way to deal with it. I do think the reaction was somewhat emotional knee jerk as well. But Russia appears to be accepting none of the responsibility, nor are their supporters, which explains why I am engaged in the discussion.
