A pediatric emergency medicine physician is urging doctors to join the effort for gun control by asking about gun ownership while performing health histories on their patients.
A panel titled âThe Tipping Point: Activating a Public Health Movement to Address Gun Violenceâ was featured at the American Public Health Association (APHA)âs 2015 annual meeting in Chicago earlier in November. The panel called for a view of gun violence as a public health emergency situation.

Promiscuous gay sex damages the health of more people... sheer numbers matter... Maybe doctors should be FORCED to ask about that...
My medical group had a questioner that asked about gun ownership. I don’t own one but I still refused to answer the question . when I refused to answer they wanted me to initial the question. I refused to do that.
I am a firm believer that the reason for the right to bear arms is to assure us that are government is responsive to us rather then us being responsive to them
The American Academy of Pediatrics endorses gun control. Its official position on firearms asserts that the absence of firearms in homes and communities is "the most effective measure to prevent suicide, homicide, and unintentional firearm-related injuries."
The only questions I would ask of my patients is tips on gun types or ranges closeby....
When I lived in CA I was asked about gun ownership both times I went to a new doctor. I just said that question was irrelevant to my health and 1 wasn’t going to answer. This was several years ago.
I have not been asked this by my doctors. If they did ask me, I would say. “Do you have a gun at your house”?
I’ll just retort by asking him if he owns a fleshlight.
If he gets offended, “Oh, I’m sorry. I thought we were discussing personal things which have no bearing on this conversation.”
Exactly...ding...ding...ding...winnah..winnah...chicken dinner
So do what I do. Lie.....
My doc has never asked. If she does, I will simply lie. "Why no, I do not." None of her business, neither personally nor professionally and it cannot possibly have any bearing on my health. Well, other than reducing my stress level (love a good day on the range), and possibly saving my life if ever needed.
“Oh no! I would never own a gun. You can put your eye out!!!”
I think the best response to a physician asking this is to answer their question with a question:
“Are you now or have you ever been a member of the communist party?”
This would be done more than anything to throw a lug wrench into their thought processes. Hopefully to teach them to act like a physician, not a commissar or zampolit.
That is genius.
I've had the same feeling about Concealed carry permits.
Ha...they do ask about heterosexual lifelong activities...before they get to the gun question...My so called doctor didn’t even ask the gun question...by the time she was there she said...she wouldn’t because I had refused to answer all her other questions...including whether I text wehen I drive
I thought the libs position was that abstinence education was ineffective and unrealistic...

Liberals are Nazis and Nazis are Fascists.
