I understand. However, what is the logical course of action here? Begin the build up to a lawsuit based on sexual discrimination because boys get to do all the cool stuff, OR work to make the Girl Scouts to improve their curriculum?
Warning! Danger! Logic Alert! The Girl Scouts can easily do the cool stuff if that is what they were really about.
Good point, but the Girl Scout Leadership has made a deal with Planned Parenthood to teach girls a lot more “important” things - never let your precious daughter have anything to do with the Girl Scouts. For that matter, the Boy Scouts will probably soon be sued for not offering a badge in clothing design and proper hair accessories.
Egalitarianism does not work that way.
This a “socialization” program, not so much to teach skills (which would be a most admirable goal), but to break down “barriers” that prevent human beings from being entirely fungible and easily replaced in any role.
“Equality” achieved by tearing down some virtuous monument to achievement, rather than trying to become competitive on the same or parallel level, is ultimately destructive of all the parties for which “equality” is desired. The high standard no longer exists, and futility feeds upon itself, mediocrity becomes the normal state of things. Incentive and achievement become something to be mocked, and reward becomes meaningless, if any reward is ever extended.
Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” touched upon this theme.
They should be separate with the same curriculum. What’s the problem.
