Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has been criticised for mocking a disabled New York Times reporter.
Mr Trump performed an impression of Serge Kovaleski, who suffers from a congenital joint condition, at a rally.
He has used a 2001 article by Mr Kovaleski to back up widely disputed claims that "thousands" of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the 9/11 attacks.
The New York Times called Mr Trump's actions "outrageous".

She and her snowflake ilk will eventually demand a Safe Space on Freerepublic.com.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
So you buy what the press is selling?
The GOPe and its useful idiots would rather see a Progressive Democrat in the WH than no Progressive at all. The Globalist agenda requires a Prog in the WH who will circumvent Congress. Its all about the regulations now. Laws are immaterial in the bureaucrat-run state. The Republican-”controlled” Congress proves this.
Handiman is not amused. ;)
Yes! Hammer to Nail!
I now have the quotation on a full copy of the Birmingham speech. I’ll post those quotations as well. Before I do so, are you aware of any additional such comments in Trump’s speeches, tweets, etc. that should be included?
Why did you fall hook, line and sinker for the BBC garbage bait?
Trump never knew this writer. Now why did you feel the need to shoot your mouth off through your keyboard before engaging your brain and getting the facts? I know the reason but you need to reflect on it.
Not that I am aware of. But I haven’t searched. I know what he said in Birmingham. I also know that he has since changed the way he describes what he “saw,” without acknowledging that his original description cannot be supported by any evidence whatsoever.
Keep quacking, drjimmy.
Maybe somebody will make you a Safe Space on FR. :)
I am still 100% for Trump, and there is more to Iowa than what you may think.
In the spirit of non-PC expression, and judging from TV coverage of various demos and meetings, I think that the Democrats have the spaz vote locked up already.
Trump is one of America's favorite uncles, like Bill Murray.
Everybody knows him, and has already formed an opinion for the most part, well before this election.
So the Uniparty & its slimy little Press Machine can play the Raciss Card, and the WarrenWimmin Card, and the Gimp Card, and it won't make too much difference.
I love the way Trump slams a banana cream pie in their faces, and when they start up with The Blubberty, he jams ANOTHER one in their pieing lieholes for good measure. :)
That'll stop the enemy dead in his tracks!
BTW - if we picked up all the bricks that they've excreted over Trump, we'd be able to build a New Pyramid in DC...
I’ve unfortunately had the displeasure of staying a day and night in Jersey City and I know for a fact they have a radicalized Muslim community there.
Are you saying Trump lied? Because even if there were hundreds cheering, you are choosing the wrong side to be on.
I mean who cares about the number? Maybe there were thousands, maybe there were hundreds, maybe there were 75, who cares? Do you think Trump is a liar?
I wouldn’t say trump is a liar. To say he doesn’t embellish the truth or exaggerate would be false as he does that consistantly. He is a personality, an entertainer. He is like a lot of actors in the sense that they can weave a story at the drop of a hat. Much is not factual but it sure does resonate!
“his original description cannot be supported by any evidence whatsoever.”
You can’t really go that far. I know for a fact that such celebrations did take place in the New Jersey shore overlooking the World Trade Center, because I watched the news reports and videos of those celebrations in the streets. How many people were involved in those celebrations I wouldn’t know, except there were enough to give the impression of crowds along the street yelling and screaming in joy in front of the camera lens. I also recall the news reports about similar happiness being celebrated in the public areas by Muslims in Texas, California, and Illinois. One of the reasons I can remember these news reports was because of the discussions I had with people about the Muslims seen in those news reports.
Now this business about there being thousands upon thousands of such Muslim celebrants is almost certainly just Trumps rhetorical hyperbole. You can justly criticize him for using hyperbole, but denying there were large numbers of such Muslim celebrants is simply not going to fly for those of us who watched those news stories on that day.
I will also add that I was on the Pacific Coast and engaged in a telephone conversation with a business associate located in a skyscraper located on the New Jersey shoreline in an office overlooking the World Trade Center. He had to halt our conversation when he saw the explosion on the North Tower occur when the first airliner struck. He could see something catastrophic happened, but he still did not realize the explosion was caused by an aircraft crashing into the building. He asked me to check the news on the Internet and television to see if there was any news. There wasn’t any further information for awhile, and we discussed what it might be, including a small plane crash. Then the news of the disaster started to come through on the Internet and the television talking about an airliner striking the WTC, and I relayed it to him. It was while we were discussing this event that he and I saw the second airliner crash into the South Tower. He saw it happen from his office in the distance, and I saw it on the television as the news crews had their TV cameras trained on the WTC.
It was later the next day he described how they were sent home from their office early, and he saw some small crowds of people out on the New Jersey streets overlooking Manhattan celebrating the disaster. He was angered and disgusted by what he saw them doing, and we were talking about it a lot the next day.
Even after calling Iowa voters stupid?
> “To say he doesnât embellish the truth or exaggerate would be false as he does that consistantly.”
Give examples of his embellishment. The Jersey City account is not settled yet. But you say he embellishes consistently, so surely you have 2 or 3 other examples you can link to.
I expect you don’t know for sure, but you’re quick to pass judgment.
Trump is brilliant. He has everyone talking about 9/11 in the midst of an egregious permit of a Trojan Horse to land on American soil and in the midst of complete insanity in Europe regarding the same issue.
Trump trolls can argue all they want, they don’t realize that opening their yaps to criticize Trump makes them look foolish in the midst of what is going on worldwide.
Trump has a genius for media branding and narrative setting,
The problem with this style is that meaningful discourse becomes almost impossible.
How does Trump respond to insults? Does he just get over it? Of course not, and it isn't reasonable to expect his opponents to.
Is that what the country needs? A constant cage match? It may feel good if your guy comes up with the most cutting insult but does that really make it easier to meet your objectives?
