Odd to see Obama do the right thing for once.

Yes, but you can bet it’s for all the wrong reasons.

I agree with the demilitarization of the civilian police. Obama is getting this one right and I’m happy to give him credit for it >> IF << the order is actually carried out.

Same here. He THINKS that he’s sticking it to us, yet again, but this time we actually support him. Pigs with squad cars and SWAT vans are all that’s needed...at least at this point.
(in Europe they will soon need heavy ground assault vehicles in their cities, to simply have a chance)

Yes, I don’t want the cops having all these military vehicles. All it does is encourage them to respond with overwhelming force to minor incidents. They don’t need it and they should never have gotten it. This SWAT stuff in every two bit berg is out of hand.
Hard to believe that Ofail is doing something right.

Maybe its the right thing to do...maybe. But just because the local sheriff no longer has his personnel carrier, it doesn't mean these guys have given up theirs:
![](https://raymondpronk.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/dhs_vehicle_police.jpg)
All this is really doing is increasing the disparity in federal power vs local power...in a very literal way. How about the alphabet soup of federal agencies give up their weapons first. The disarm the locals. Check out the BLM's toys here (the same BLM that superceded the local sheriff's authority at the Bundy ranch and came within an eyelash of attacking civilians): HMMWVs, MRAPs...and the ISIS special HiLux. https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/projects/nepa/37870/46645/50505/BPT_FinalEA-AppB-02052014.pdf

If he’s taking it, it can only means he knows they’re going to need it before he leaves office.

Odd to see Obama do the right thing for once. That sort of depends on who receives the equipment after it's taken back from the police. Would you put it past these people to give at least some of it to certain, shall we say, community organizations?

He is cleaning up his own my mistake. Obama reduced our military by pulling out of the ME. Then gave the equipment to local police. Then Blacks in Ferguson complained about a war zone.

If they want to be in the military, let them be in the military. The sheriff doesn’t need a HMMWV, MRAP, M113, etc. What’s next, BFV? M1A1?
