Show me where in our Constitution the words “The right of the people to keep and bear korans and terrorize the populace” shows up and I might agree this is a bit extreme.

Our government in his day paid over 25% of their budget to muslim terrorists (aka “Barbary coast pirates”) so they wouldn’t steal our ships, enslave our citizens or otherwise molest/harrass (demand “jizya”) them. That stopped shortly after he said “enough” and sent our marines in to Tripoli to kick butt and take names.
So yeah, potential terrorists and mosques should be investigated. Every overt act of terrorism in America since at least the first bombing of the twin towers was approved by an imam in a mosque somewhere.
