According to the Des Moines Register, Cruz said he is "deeply concerned" with the trade pact.
"While Cruz said he supports free trade, he believes the Trans-Pacific Partnership would undermine U.S. immigration laws and the nation's sovereignty," reported the Des Moines Register.
"There are a number of Republicans on that (debate) stage who support TPP, who support (the Trade Promotion Authority)," Cruz stated. "I voted against TPA and I intend to vote against TPP."
TPA - Trade Promotion Authority - is the legislation that Congress passed in June that granted President Obama fast-track trade authority so that trade deals - such as the TPP - only get an up or down vote by Congress, which cannot offer any amendments.
"I believe we can negotiate a much better agreement with a strong conservative president than we have with Barack Obama," Cruz stated.
Cruz was visiting the Hawkeye state following a recent endorsement by Iowa Congressman Rep. Steve King (R-IA).
A member of the Republican Party of Iowa's governing board, Loras Schulte, a according to the Des Moines Register, "announced Friday that he would resign his position and endorse Cruz."

Don't be discouraged. These people have different agenda. They are not for Ted Cruz from the beginning.
Exactly.
I totally agree. He screwed up. But considering that his lifetime record is one of NOT screwing up, I think it should be put in PROPER perspective.
To me, the real bullshit is people screaming bloody murder about ‘purists’ and ‘no matter what’ and lesser evil’, who then discount the most conservative... VERIFIABLE conservative, guy since Reagan. Not the ‘Severe’ kind that abandons his entire schtick less than 24 hours after the great fail if 2012 and humiliated all his supporters.
People dragging out his wife and this vote don’t seem to have any issues forgetting and forgiving a plethora of issues in their own chosen candidate in this go around. But when it come to Ted, suddenly they actually BECOME the evil purists they bitch at others for and discount him over one issue. Two if you stretch it torturously.
No one that voted for Mitt Romney has a molecule of room to talk about Ted Cruz’s ‘shortcoming’ (note singular as he has one genuinely worth arguing over) They forgave abject liberalism on a grand scale and tied themselves into Gordian knots over it... some refusing to face reality to this very day.
Cruz is the most conservative we have up there running. He moved into 2nd place today by one poll’s count and the trend is ongoing. His fundraising is significant and ongoing. If people want conservative govt, they will vote for a conservative. If they don’t they won’t. It’s as simple as that and all the verbal gymnastics in creation arent going to change that immutable fact.
"The Trump Card, LLS, avoids disclosure of donors because it is not a pac, as you know. Like the Clinton Foundation, it is indecipherable who exactly these donors are, but they are not a PAC. They are a COMPLEX, to break our front runner. I really believe even Soros fears a Trump nomination and will funnel money into the LLS. The rest of the field is much weaker against Hillary, imho, and the money guys know it. They will take Hillary."
Thanks to the three of you for reasonable posts.
I can understand why Cruz believed McConnell when they were speaking personally to each other. It is human nature to believe a person in your own party speaking directly to you. He will never trust McConnell again.
Through my career as a therapist and psychological examiner, I came across people I trusted until they acted to put the proverbial knife in my back. Every time that happened, I felt sad people would do that.
I don't think any group or candidate can say anything or use money to do anything that would sink Trump. He is what he is and nothing the media or a candidate has said about him so far has stuck to him and it won't in the future.
He may sink himself by his own words as I believe he will say anything to be elected, don't think he was or is a conservative. No way do I want him as president, it would be a mess, but if he is the final candidate, he gets my vote as Hillary would finish killing the country.
Well then,I would say that we are in 98.389% agreeance.
You said ; Cruz is the most conservative one up there we have running
I said; Cruz is the only conservative running :)
Very scary assumption. Geesh. If that is what Cruz thought, that is worrisome.
Certified Trump 3rd grader- ignore.

I gotcha dearest. And, thanks.
He was not the crucial 60th vote for cloture, despite what you may have read on FR. Furthermore, he’s explained his vote many times.

Irrelevant, he voted to end the filibuster. His "explanations" were a lot of nonsensical rambling.
And he'd made a point only a few weeks earlier that the critical votes in the senate are the votes to end a filibuster, not the following vote where only 51 votes are required for passage. He used his critical vote to help pass TPA and by extension TPP.
McConnell lied about his intentions concerning the Import/Export bank. And, whatever, nothing explains away Cruz’s decision to give his critical vote on TPA, the cloture vote, to help pass TPA.
His ‘No’ vote when only 51 were required for passage was meaningless.
Bookmarking your post. You provided more info on TPA/TPP than any other. I have young people asking me questions, hearing the Cruz attack on this and I needed some clear info to help them understand. They want a Conservative but are easily confused by the Agit-Prop of the conspiracy theorists.
