The dire economic situation of millennials was front and center on Capitol Hill Wednesday, and a committee chairman said the executive and legislative branches were worsening it.
The political failure to tackle the national debt and unfunded liabilities of entitlement programs are going to set back the generation born between 1980 and 2000 even further, Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., said at the Joint Economic Committee hearing.
One member of that generation is a member of Congress now: Republican Elise Stefanik of New York, elected at age 30 last year, who testified about her generation's perspective at the hearing. Rep. Stefanik said that most millennials did not believe they would attain the living standards of their parents.
Yet she called herself genuinely inspired by the positivity and new way of looking at the world that her generation exuded: "They do not shy away from challenges and they want to participate in society, their communities, in the local government."
The problem is that millennials "often feel held back by archaic process and overregulation," Stefanik said, suggesting reforms to help millennials such as changing labor laws to allow for greater work flexibility and making Pell Grant scholarships available year-round.

Getting government out of education completely is the best move, but it will have to happen in steps.

Government regulations are a ball and chain to small start ups.
Sheltered, clueless, but masterfully brainwashed. Given a specific cue, they explode in insane rage. Seeing this not from somebody who went through a harsh life but from a well sheltered person living in ‘safe space’ is scary. People who brainwashed them are real evil.
I think this regulations angle works for minorities as well. Licensing and permitting were meant to protect certain classes and exclude others. We need an urban GOP core blend of Giulianis and Rands out there stirring the pot in Democrat safe-spaces aka cities.

And why we need to undo the gauntlet of liberal lies these kids go through to get to 18. That we turn our children over to government education centers is sick.
We need to target them for truth. I think PC is making them think for the first time.
They stifle innovation, imply mistrust of individuals and free markets, and turn our lives over to losers that cannot manage theirs.
An attorney I know serves state, county and Chicago government workers for their foreclosure and bankruptcy cases. He’s a liberal Democrat, but is shocked that no matter if they make $60 thousand or $160 thousand their monthly bills equal their net pay - credit card debt, mortgages, car payments, etc.
They spend everything they earn. They’re all underworked, overpaid, and refugees from the competitive marketplace.

Yes. I know Boomers were annoyingly smug in their teens and 20s, too. But I think two generations of kids only engaging in supervised, age-level classes and play and not engaging with adults in an after-school job has led to a new level of identity and comfort only with those just their age.
It seems to have deeply colored their worldview. Also, with so many now financially dependent on their parents I don’t think they can rebel against those they might otherwise perceive and have reason to rebel against—so they go after their older generations by proxy.
Millennials would be best served by re-examining the whole concept of legal “entitlements”. No logic can ever support the notion that an adult who didn’t earn something is “entitled” to it beyond the inherent rights as described (partially) in the Bill of Rights.

Not really...it’s the opposite, the FDR/JFK votes. But thankfully they’re fading away - hence the NEAR-PANIC in Democrat circles to replace them with Hispanics.

Sure, no black vote, no Obama either. My point is that the Dems are losing their last block of white voters that vote Democrat WITHOUT QUESTIONING THEM...or anything they do. They simply vote Democrat because JFK was shot and FDR got us through the war. Young voters have always leaned Democrat, nothing new there.

But your point is wrong. Older voters have been the most conservative (and yes, whitest) voters.
The indoctrination through our government schools is worse than ever—as is the Leftism of young mushheads compared to the ‘80s and ‘90s, at least. Also, we’ve got more of our young voters than ever spending their 20s in such propaganda mills.
so......Conservatism to a Millenial Republican means putting more flexibility into a government giveaway program.
I think I see what the problem is.
I don’t like her pushing for more pell grants. That is just another welfare tactic wrapped up in a bow and we can’t afford them anymore.
