Los Angeles International Airport police were looking for a man reportedly dressed as a commercial airline pilot who disappeared on the jetway of a New York-bound flight Thursday morning, authorities said.
The incident happened about 6 a.m. in the bridge between Gate 31B at LAXâs Terminal 3 and a JetBlue aircraft preparing to take off to JFK airport in New York, airport officials said.

Just great. What could have gone wrong with that scenario?
Don’t they have cameras ?
News was saying LAX said he is OK... I don’t trust anyone at times like this.
My husband just left on a Jet Blue flight from LAX to Boston. He called from the gate and I guess was unaware that this had taken place. I was also unaware and told him to do his usual profiling. He checks out everyone who gets on his flight and wouldn’t hesitate for one minute to act.
Shortly after 9/11 we were on flight where a friend was one of the flight attendants. When she saw my husband she breathed a sigh of relief. He’s a big guy and she felt she had some added protection.
Sounds like your husband has a terrific wife.
eerie
I remember, in the aftermath of 9/11, reading an article where someone claimed to have encountered the terrorist scum Atta, a couple of months before 9/11, in a full fledged pilots uniform, on a plane, or near a plane jetway, or something similar.
it may have been hysteria, but does anyone recall hearing about that?
Los Angeles airport police think the ‘unauthorized’ man on the JetBlue jetway was likely a real pilot who was taking a seat on the flight - @KNXBaird
I believe it was the actor James Woods. I believe he reported it to authorities but was ignored of course.
One of my closest friends was a flight attendant on a US Airways flight on the morning of 9/11, departing Washington DC. After all of the flights were cancelled and headed back to the gate because of the terrorist attacks, she walked through the cabin and told the few passengers on board that the flight was cancelled and they were going back to the gate in person. She told me they were three Muslims scattered throughout the flight all acting like they didn’t know each other. When she approached each of them and told them that the flight was cancelled for reasons unknown and they were going back to the gate each of them glared at her and then slowly turned and looked out the window refusing to say anything to her. I believe with all of my heart that this may have been thwarted attack.
I did find an article on snopes...(yeah, I know it is snopes)...it was written by a guy who was purportedly a delta pilot, and had atta in his jump seat in july of 2001 on a domestic flight
that was the story that I remember reading.
anyway.....I realize it is snopes....
I hadn’t heard that.
With Thanksgiving coming up, I am concerned for chaos. Glad your husband got off without a hitch.
not sure if I am supposed to link to snopes, but a quick bing will find the article for you
bing ATTA jump seat.
at the very least, it is interesting reading.
Interesting. Did your friend take any notice of them later on? I’m just curious if they walked together through the airport or gave any indication of actually knowing each other, once their attack may have been thwarted.
Thanks rdl6989.
