The acronym is favoured by mainstream Muslims, who say the term "Islamic State" gives a religious dignity to what is simply a terrorist sect.

The radical Muslim wants to behead you. The mainstream Muslim is waiting for the radical Muslim to behead you.

The operative word is "Muslim" - and as a free, independent Western woman, they want you dead.

Not sure either of these translations would be taken as an insult. it can mean anything from to trample down and crush to bigot who imposes his view on others. Trample down and crush, impose his view, that's what they do in the name of their faith. They might not like bigot, they'd replace it with faithful. I think the word is appropriate since it makes it clear their territorial objective is greater than Iraq and Syria, or greater Syria, or the "Levant" as Obama and Kerry prefer.
