Hawaii Gov. David Ige says the state would welcome refugees from Syria with aloha.
Ige said in a statement Monday that Hawaii and the U.S. have a long history of welcoming refugees affected by war and oppression.
Ige spokeswoman Jodi Leong says it's too early to speculate on how many may come to Hawaii as the governor hasn't been contacted by President Barack Obama or his administration.
The governor says "Hawaii is the Aloha State, known for its tradition of welcoming all people with tolerance and mutual respect."
Ige says safety is his first priority. He says the U.S. accepts refugees only after conducting the highest level of screening and security checks.
Ige says Hawaii would work with the federal government to ensure the state has the resources to help refugees.
Hawaii is one of only seven states whose governors have said they would accept Syrian refugees following the terror attacks in Paris on Nov. 13.

I really wonder how many refugees end up in states with a democrat governor? My thinking is not many.
Feed ‘em to Pele ...
The muzz have no idea how popular pork is here, moreso than beef.
Sounds like a good place for another Gitmo as long as we do not throw off the balance and tump over the islands
Hawaii sent a Republican, Hiram Fong, to the Senate. It was Alaska that sent all Democrats to Washington.
It was only after the Japanese got involved in politics in a big way that Hawaii was reliably Democrat. But people didn't know that back in 1959-1960
If what you say is true, then I have been misinformed. I don't recall exactly where I read that, but it seemed reliable at the time. In any case I know that the two states were brought into the Union at the same time as a Package deal.
I hope they take so many that each island capsizes.
Hawaii’s new slogan will be Aloha Akbar. ;-)
Old Mr. Hanalei’s grandfather said to never go to the ancient burial ground. So I never go!
Da “bruddahs” on welfare are going to find Haoles a pleasure compared to these incoming muzzies.
Dey better learn how to say “Want beef?” in Arabic.
;^)
Hawaii (until the 1950s) was Republican and except for one instance in 1932, didn't elect a Democrat Delegate from 1924 until 1956. Republicans didn't want AK admitted and Democrats (especially Southern Dems) didn't want Hawaii sending Asian Republicans.
That is the opposite of what I've read, but since you are the second person to inform me that I have the parties flipped, I must conclude I have remembered it backwards, or that it was backwards when I read it.
Hawaii has a dreadful homeless problem and they want more people?
At least if they go there they can’t just hop on a bus and go to other states.
.
.
The governor is planning to subject the citizens of Hawaii to some governmental S&M (syrian and muslim).
Their Blood, your hands, Govenor.
Shouldn't that be "Want Camel Hump"?
Who is "they"?
“”Who is “they”? “

Oops !
“He” wants more people.
:-)

It was unfortunate that by the time Hawaii became a state, it was already trending hard-left Democrat (Dan Inouye had participated in the 1954 “Revolution” which flipped the HI House from GOP to Democrat, for which has never gone back).
The GOP only got 1 Senate seat out of it in the 1959 statehood special elections (Chinese-American Hiram Fong), and narrowly lost (51-48%) the other seat (Japanese-American Republican Wilfred C. Tsukiyama to Haole Democrat ex-Gov. Oren Long). Leftist Dem Dan Inouye kept the sole House seat and handily took the Senate seat in 1962 when Oren Long stepped down and remained in office for the next 50 years.
Why am I not surprised by this? I posted earlier that I was wondering if my idiot state would something like this. Never mind that the homeless are coming here by the boatload!
