Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday panned the idea of favoring Christian refugees from Syria over Muslims, delivering a rebuttal to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a GOP presidential candidate.
McCain said using a religious test on Syrian refugees, especially children, makes no sense.
âI donât think any child, whether they are Christian or whether they are atheist or whether they are Buddhist, that we should make a distinction,â McCain said. âMy belief is that all children are Godâs children.â
Itâs a rare example of McCain siding with President Obama, who defeated him in the 2008 presidential election, on a hot-button political topic.
Cruz and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush over the weekend said efforts to resettle refugees from Syria should focus on Christians.
"There is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror,â Cruz said at a Sunday event in South Carolina, according to The Washington Post. âIf there were a group of radical Christians pledging to murder anyone who had a different religious view than they, we would have a different national security situation."
Bush on Sunday told CNNâs âState of the Unionâ that the U.S. âshould focus our efforts as it relates to the refugees with the Christians that are being slaughtered.â
McCainâs comments Tuesday backed up Obama, who earlier this week called a religious test âshamefulâ and ânot American.â
Bush, however, softened his stance in an interview with Bloomberg Politics on Tuesday.
âThe answer to this is not to ban people from coming. The answer is to lead, to resolve the problem in Syria,â he said.
Noting public worries over the vetting of refugees, he said that âif thereâs any kind of concern, we shouldnât allow people in.â
âBut I donât think we should eliminate our support for refugees,â he added.
McCain said Tuesday âthere should be no litmus testâ for the religious affiliation of refugees as long as they are vetted and determined not to pose a threat.
âAre we going to differentiate children by their religion? I donât think so,â he said.
McCain blamed what he called Obamaâs âfailed, fecklessâ policy in Syria for the violence that has sent hundreds of thousands of migrants flooding into Europe.
âThe decisions by the president of the United States, the commander-in-chief, have put us into this position where weâre fighting over refugees
They are both wrong as these are not refugees.
Drop dead you old fart.
Yup. But we still have people on a conservative website determined to rewrite his history on a daily basis.
We need 10 more states to say NO, and we can stop Obama.
The Rom-ulans.
This from a total POS that helped create ISIS. And I was told he was better than Obama in 2008. HA!
Great to here. Have you seen the fake refugee video below?

A UK paper(the only ones I now read) said that the “Anonymous”
Hackers just closed 5,500 Islamic Tweet sites.
Thanks, I hadn’t seen it.
Flush Juan this time, Ariz. or you are DOOMED....
These are not Christian or atheist or Buddhist children.
These are Muslim children.
Muslim children that have been seen on any number of videos taking knives and cutting off the heads of teddy bears.
Muslim children taught from an early age to shout out that Jews are pigs and monkeys.
Muslim children as young as ten have been seen on ISIS videos executing a “spy” in an orange jumpsuit execution-style by a bullet in the back of the head.
But perhaps this much too graphic for some of the more queasy folks out there.
Soon to be coming to a schoolyard near you.
I’ve said it before and I’ll continue saying it:
America would have been FAR better off if that little North Vietnamese grunt manning that SAM battery in 1967 had been a better shot, sending McCain to Arlington National Cemetery instead of the Hanoi Hilton.
McCain wasn’t called the ‘songbird’ by his captors for nothing. He was a collaborator with the enemy and when he returned, he indeed, ended up being a ‘Manchurian Candidate’ and I maintain that he threw the election of 2008 because he was told to do so.
If McCain had fought Obama and his ‘RATS as viciously as he fought conservatives in his own party, McCain would be President today and Vice President Sarah Palin would already be gearing up for her own presidential run.
F*** you John McCain! It is long past the time when you should have shuffled your stupidity off of the world stage.
Move them all to Arizona.
The voting public loves all the pork that McCain drags home for them and allows them to justify voting for him.
He is crazy, you like him, you enjoy his work.
I thought they zapped Jihad John the other day?
“McCain is still working for free as an enemy agent.”
I voted for the man and kicked him a LOT of money I could sure use now. I am not sure but what his election would have been worse than his defeat. Impossible to quantify, but it gives me gooseflesh every time I think about it.
In the second photo, next to McCain is the now dead Ambassador Stephens, killed in Benghazi by the “moderate” islamics McCain did business with, running guns from Libya to the “moderates” that we trained— 5 for 500 million bucks. The rest going to ISIS which we funded in this way.
Smart guy that mcswine.
McCain said, “My belief is that all children are God’s children.”
McCain has every right to believe that, but it is not a Christian belief. (Ephesians 3: 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.)
Refugees are not citizens. They have no constitutional rights, and we certainly can discriminate according to religion.
It is because of their religion that many mid-east Muslims have targeted Christians for annihilation. Even the suspicion that some of those Muslims may be attempting to come into this country with their victims justifies religions discrimination.
Does anyone really care what that no good SOB has to say and yes I know he was a war hero but he’s still a worthless SOB for this country and the biggest RINO in DC.
He is and is becoming an even worse, if that is possible, RINO.
