Keeping guns out gets us nowhere in staying safer

Suppose a criminal comes upon your home and sees a sign announcing, â€œGun Free Zone.â€ How would he respond? Unless he thinks that the homeowner is playing a joke on him, the sign would put his mind at ease and make him more likely to break in.

Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy, argued that such signs make us safer, attacking my October testimony before the state Senate Judiciary Committee.

Mass public killers want to commit suicide, but they also want to gain media attention by taking people with them. They donâ€™t normally just run outside and start shooting. These are cold, calculating killers who spend a half-year or more planning their attacks, and they often express their desire to attack an area where guns are prohibited.

John is definitely one of my favorites. On that subject here is the letter to the editor I sent a couple days ago.

The slaughters in Paris demonstrate the folly of declaring an entire country a gun free zone. The French government has confiscated the inherent natural right of self-defense not only for average citizens, but law enforcement as well. Unfortunately, French elites will probably avoid consideration of personal freedom and protection. Count on them to intensify the ruinous strategies that produced such idyllic environments for satisfying additions to barbarity.

In this country count on gun control acolytes to construct tortured perception of events and press their traditional agendas rather than allow a focus on predators and criminals. In the United States protecting Constitutional guarantees regarding firearms in common usage should be paramount. The inherent natural right of self-defense should always occupy a position superior to opposing laws or rules. Yet there is little chance future discussions will begin along those lines.

Just a few minutes ago I heard some former federal officials lamenting the fact that terrorists are successfully using encryption to hide their communications.

The implication was that we would all be better off if we surrendered our right to privacy in trade for better security.

I pointed out to my wife that, right after 9/11, there were muslims jumping up and down in Iran holding signs that read, "Death to America". The message wasn't encrypted.

We know who our enemies are. We know where they are. And we do less than nothing about it.

Iran should be bombed into the stone age. The destruction should continue until their official policy is changed to the following:
1) Christians, Jews, and others have a right to life and a right to peacefully follow their religious teachings.
2) The principle that Islam must be extended to all peoples of the world by force is immoral and is rejected.

Lighter sanctions can be used to address other distasteful tenets of Islam should they decide to follow the above.

And in the face of practical advice from none other than Machiavelli, who wrote that the wise Prince arms his men, because it helps bind his men to him and increases the safety of his principality.

Not if you're a Fabian, I guess -- or a socialist of any stripe. The sole exception I can think of is the late Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, who, conjuring a threat from the United States, concluded an agreement to buy and license-build over 1,000,000 new-pattern AK-103 assault rifles for issue to his party members, making them a Militia.

The democrats are always trying to pass laws that will take away our constitutional rights to bear arms but they refuse to actually ENFORCE rational gun laws that are on the books. Looks at the city of Chicago run by corrupt democrats for generations. They always want to keep passing unreasonable gun laws but the corrupt politicians and judges do not enforce the sensible gun laws that have been on the books for many years. For instance, it is a felony to point a gun at somebody during an armed robbery but armed robbers have had their crimes plea bargained from armed robbery down to simple assault and then given suspended sentences by the liberal judges. Such a thing happened to an armed robber who had his sentence pleaded down to simple assault. Guess what. While out on parole he shot and murdered a 15 year old girl in Chicago. This girl was a star student who had been invited to the White House by Obama. When she got back to Chicago she was shot dead by a bullet intended for someone else. The killer should have been behind bars but instead he was out on parole shooting up the streets. There were laws to keep him in jail for his previous gun crime but the corrupt democrat controlled judicial system kept him on the street where he was allowed to murder innocent people.

This is becoming a problem for police and for victims of home invasions who are often shot dead like that young mother from Indianapolis who was shot dead last week.

Criminals often get their guns by using straw purchasers often their girlfriends or relatives who do not have police records. This is a crime but often the liberal judges do not take it seriously so they let the straw purchaser get off scott free. Such a thing happened in the courtroom of Black woman judge U.S. District Judge Eleanor L. Ross who let straw purchaser Jalita Johnson off scott free when she had purchased the gun for her gangster boyfriend Marcus Wheeler who then used the gun to murder woman police officer Kerrie Orozco.

Black leaders are forever marching for peace, preaching sermons for peace, having candle light vigils for peace, demanding more gun laws for peace, demanding more “programs” from the taxpayers for peace in their communities. But do they ever stop and think where all of these guns are coming from that cause so much death in the streets? Blacks with their 90% democrat voting record do not look at the corrupt party that they support. The corrupt politicians that they support put those corrupt judges on the bench. These judges do not have respect for the law so they give people like Jalita Johnson a slap on the wrist. They let armed robbers get off with a suspended sentence after they plead down the felony to a simple assault. That is why there is so much violence and turmoil in the Black community and other communities as well.
