"On January 7, 2002, former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu stepped through the two-doored entry chamber of a prison sallyport. After the first fudge-brown steel and armored glass door slowly closed right-to-left behind him, Netanyahu passed his hand beneath a black light reader along the left wall. It illuminated a small security stamp on his hand, not unlike the type disco clubs use. Behind opaque, silver-tinted windows, watchful security officers in the control room completed their checklist, approving Netanyahu's access....... The prison was not in Israel, it was in North Carolina. Netanyahu had flown to Raleigh Durham and then driven the forest-lined 20 minutes to the Federal Correctional Institution at Butner. It was all to talk to America's most controversial Jewish prisoner, now serving his 17th year of incarceration. The prisoner, 09185-016, was Jonathan Jay Pollard, the American Jew who pleaded guilty in 1986 to spying for Israel, and was abruptly sentenced to life imprisonment despite a binding plea bargain that restricted any request for so harsh a term."

Serious methods and sources-- things that enabled Snowden to feel "moral" about releasing for the good of..... themselves. Pollard and his freaking wife were in this up to their foreheads. Pollard is in the same place as the Walkers-- who are now mercifully freaking dead. Pollard should NOT be released. So-- how does this help obamaumao- and more precisely how and why is this something Netanyahu can get. What part does the blackmail of the Iran deal, coax out of Netanyahu a "hold harmless" arrangement, even as he wails about the end of Israel by the deal. Seriously- this stinks to high heaven. Also, Pollard is calculated to receive $3.6 million from Israel as BACK PAY? Pollard should not be released to Israel (see fat boy Jerrold Nadler-the a@@hole congressman of the criminal mob).
Pollard has been portrayed in some corners of the media as merely trying to help an ally (Israel) that faced an existential threat. The truth is that Pollard shopped classified information to at least three other countries, as well, two of them hardly considered then or now to be reliable allies. He was a mercenary, whose primary motivation was financial.
The interesting feature of Pollard’s imprisonment is the repeated efforts by Israel to get him released. The efforts raises the question Why? Please do not give me the big words; i.e. “Justice.” Several Presidents, even the Degenerate Clinton, refused to release him, Why?
Of rather important current interest in this article is that the major thrust of releasing Pollard by US jewish interests, WAS headed up by Anthony “The” Weiner... “HINO” (husband in name only) for the Muslim Brotherhood’s agent in place aide and girlfriend of Hitlery Clintoon, former Sec. of State.
The system is corrupted throughout. In what way, other than super spy crap we can’t know about, would releasing Pollard gain Israel— they will still have the anti-israel jew groups in the US trying to destroy Israel. Playing both ends into the middle. This guy is a criminal, and so is his wife.
Why would Israel be trying to get his release? Though Pollard acted as a mercenary, he DID pass info to Israel. If they didn’t, they’d have no spies in enemy countries. Do Palis spy for Israel for the love of Israel? No! Either the Israelis have something over them or, it is for money! If they didn’t fight for the release of their spies, they would have very few foreign spies.
He’s lucky.
Treason used to be a capital offense.
Spying also used to carry the death penalty.
“Several Presidents, even the Degenerate Clinton, refused to release him, ...”
Clinton believed that if he released Pollard, it would induce the Israelis to make additional concessions towards a negotiated settlement with the Palestinians. However, Clinton faced the prospect of the resignation of his entire national security team, including the CIA and NSA directors, if he released Pollard. So, in the end he rejected the implicit deal.
“Spying also used to carry the death penalty.”
It still does, but the Attorney General or the federal district prosecutor has to seek it in the specific case.

Pollard is being paroled after 30 years because he was sentenced to life in prison but with mandatory parole in 30 years. He can only be held longer if the government can prove misconduct or the probability that he'll reoffend. The government knew the day he was sentenced he'd be released November 20, 2015, as did anyone actually paying attention to the case.
Boo f***in' hoo.
Israel didn’t make the effort they’d have made for an Israeli agent, since he was just a paid source. Israel goes to great lengths to recover their agents and military, witness the disproportionate prisoner releases occasionally engaged in for corpses. Israel also has a designation, “ Prisoner of Zion”, which requires maximum effort for those imprisoned for advocacy of Zionism. People like Natan Sharansky, Yosef Mendelevitch from Russia would be examples. It’s also bestowed posthumously. Pollard requested this designation, was denied, went to court and was denied by the Israeli Supreme Court since the US doesn’t imprison Jews for being Jews, in his case they imprisoned a Jew for committing a crime, espionage. Which they noted has nothing to do with Zionism and would be a crime in the US as well.
So obamaumao has a more compliant lickspittle national security staff- since he weeded out the Navy and AirForce intel people in the leadership. Makes sense. Thinking this will get leverage for the paleeee stinians. Again, with the muzzie point of view support of the present... dent.
“was abruptly sentenced to life imprisonment despite a binding plea bargain that restricted any request for so harsh a term”
My recollection is that, as part of the plea bargain, Pollard had stipulated only to passing to Israel very limited classified information that would only help Israel defend itself against attacks from Arab states. When the Navy then dumped on the judge the full extent of the espionage that Pollard had committed, the judge asked Pollard to respond. When Pollard and his lawyer fell silent, the judge abruptly threw out the plea bargain and handed down the 30 year sentence.
