Steve King and Immigration: His 8 Greatest Hits
Mother Jones ^ | Jul. 12, 2013 | Gavin Aronsen

Ever since Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) departed the House in 2008, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has been the lower chamber's most visible critic of immigration reform. For the past three months, he has taken on the role of ringleader of the House's anti-immigration caucus, hosting regular meetings in his office to discuss with his tea party-minded colleagues how to scuttle efforts to pass legislation that would offer legal status to any of the country's 11 million undocumented immigrants.

(SNIP)

"I told this to Karl Rove one day, we were having this discussion," King said. "I said, Karl, if you give me $6 million a mile, there will not be a cockroach [that will] get across my mile. I guarantee it!" (SNIP)

"For every time we give amnesty to an illegal immigrant, we would just deport a liberal."

(SNIP)

Notable quotes include references to illegal immigration as a "slow-rolling, slow-motion terrorist attack on the United States" and also a "slow-motion Holocaust.

(SNIP)

"It started with Asians and it ended with Zeitgeist. So from A to Z. And most of them were victims groups, victimology, people that feel sorry for themselves. And they're out there recruiting our young people to be part of the group that feels sorry for themselves."

(SNIP)

Compared immigrants to dogs: At an Iowa town hall meeting last year, King compared immigrants to hunting dogs. "You want a good bird dog? You want one that's going to be aggressive? Pick the one that’s the friskiest...not the one that's over there sleeping in the corner," he advised.

(SNIP)

"We can do the Panama Canal 100 years-plus ago, and I've been over there to take a look at the Great Wall of China that was built more than 2,000 years ago, and that's 5,500 miles long and you can march armies down the top of it, the Japanese did that," King said.

It says Steve King is a bad guy & bigot.

If I want to watch Limbaugh kill an issue I watch Media Matters. It’s a highlight reel of his best stuff.

When you are compared to Tom Tancredo in the first sentence of a story, you know you are on the right track.
Damn, I wish I could vote for Steve King. But Iowa? Iowa in the winter? Sorry Steve, you are gonna have to do it with out my vote. Besides, I am doing my share de-electing John McCain here.

Could it be Aronsen was talking with Rove ?

There is no such thing as a quote, Hispanic race, unquote. That term has been applied to those from individual South American countries some of which have governments hostile to US and actually claim parts of this country as theirs, and others which are friendly. They are composed of various races as we are, with the difference being their primary common language is Spanish.

This destructive utopian Mexican open border approach of even considering granting those who enter the US illegally through it. Entitlement to all benefits beyond those of what we give to our citizens destroys the value of an American citizenship. It is being promoted by the name callers mostly in socialist circles such as the democrat party as well some republicans who use such terms as nativist promoting racial division .

What we should be doing is taking a very very hard look at our relationship with Mexico along with trade and its myriad misstreatment of Americans as 3rd class citizens and its claims on American territory .

While we are expected to allow Mexican citizens enter to our country illegally and offer them preferential treatment over our citizens allowing them to purchase land in their own name and and even voting privledges which they cannot do if they choose to retire in Mexico.

The leading Republican candidates and that includes Trump may mention some of this but thus far have refused to identify the problem let alone properly redress it by suggesting or implementing reciprocity.

There has to be hundreds of complaints from Americans retiring or living in Mexico about the 3rd class citizenship treatment they are getting being made to US consulates in Mexico we are not hearing about.
