ISIS is setting a trap for Europe
Business Insider ^ | 11/16/2015 | Harleen Gambhir, The Washington Post

Last week, President Obama said that the Islamic State is " contained " in Iraq and Syria, but the group's attacks in Paris soon afterward showed that it poses a greater threat to the West than ever.

ISIS is executing a global strategy to defend its territory in Iraq and Syria, foster affiliates in other Muslim-majority areas, and encourage and direct terrorist attacks in the wider world.

[SNIP]

Now it is using tactical skills acquired on Middle Eastern battlefields to provoke an anti-Muslim backlash that will generate even more recruits within Western societies. The United States and its allies must respond quickly to this threat.

The Islamic State's strategy is to polarize Western society — to "destroy the grayzone," as it says in its publications. The group hopes frequent, devastating attacks in its name will provoke overreactions by European governments against innocent Muslims, thereby alienating and radicalizing Muslim communities throughout the continent.

[SNIP]

The strategy is explicit. The Islamic State explained after the January attacks on Charlie Hebdo magazine that such attacks "compel the Crusaders to actively destroy the grayzone themselves. . . . Muslims in the West will quickly find themselves between one of two choices, they either apostatize . . . or they [emigrate] to the Islamic State and thereby escape persecution from the Crusader governments and citizens."

The group calculates that a small number of attackers can profoundly shift the way that European society views its 44 million Muslim members and, as a result, the way European Muslims view themselves. Through this provocation, it seeks to set conditions for an apocalyptic war with the West.

Unfortunately, elements of European society are reacting as the Islamic State desires. Far-right parties have gained strength in many European countries. France's National Front is expected to dominate local elections in northern France this winter;

Oh sure. By actually doing something we are falling right into their hands. Stupid article, but predictable. Some people are terrified of anti-migrant sentiment.

Ah yes, we should adopt the strategy of that wise intellectual, Hamlet . . . and do nothing. To be or not to be.

France defeated the muslims 1700 years ago and they can do it again. America is changing its views of radicals. There is a grass roots change of attitude coming.

More leftist babbling nonsense.

This guy needs to be on a watch list. He is out and out propagandizing for the terrorists

“Oh don’t fight back, you will only make the madder”.

Pure utter drivel. We did not create “more Nazis” by killing hundreds of thousand of Germans. Instead we destroyed their will to support Nazism.

If someone wants you dead, you either kill them or die. That is the choice the West and Russia/China faces with radical Islam.

Sorry you don’t understand their mindset. The Algerians in Paris have a revenge that goes way beyond anything you can image. They will turn Paris into Lebenon. Imans will put the Jews into the equation and all bets are off. France is toast.

Bottom line here is ISIS is piggybacking on the good will of the useful idiots the communists have employed to destroy the west. There is no, “if you beat us up we grow stronger” movement.

Just look at any university and see what the pacifists on campus are saying. The little marxists think being nice to ISIS will contain them. Not only is ISIS using that to destroy the west, they are using it to destroy communism.

The left let the genie out of the bottle and have no idea how to get it back in. As sad as this is, I am laughing by butt off on this historically epic fail.

Thank you Barack “Hussein” Obama.

We know perfectly well how to win an ideological war, and we understand what it takes to put us into a mental state where we are prepared to win an ideological war.

Victor Davis Hanson describes the process, in his book "The Soul of Battle".

And the Islamists are doing a pretty good job of putting us there...

Liberal reverse psychology!

Yes, we’re playing right into their “trap” by taking it to them.

Let’s see them try that on American soil. You ISIS guys (and I use that last word very reluctantly) think that we played rough in the 2 Gulf Wars and $hitholeistan? Well, here’s some news for you: mess with us at home, and then we will commence a no holds barred game of cowboys and Moslems. Ask the Germans and Japanese how pissing us off worked out for them. Oh, and the exact same thing goes for the Russians, except they call their cowboys “Cossacks” instead.

As the old Chinese saying goes, “be careful what you wish for, you may get it.”

So we alienate them, they return to their sh_tholes, and they join ISIS.

1) That makes for a target-rich environment in the aforementioned sh_thole. It’s much easier to obliterate an enemy assembled in one spot than to track them down all across the globe.

2) It’s preferable to have them joining ISIS in Aleppo or Baghdad or Beirut than to have them living next to us in Alexandria or Boston or Birmingham.

3) Compromise doesn’t work with them . There is no accommodating a system whose end goal is your eradication or enslavement. We must either destroy them or they will destroy us. THEY made that rule, not us.

Have you spent anytime with millennial recently? This isn’t 1941 Bucky. They would join up and put on the Burkhas in a heartbeat. We may be the first culture in history who are engaged in a life and death struggle and are unwilling to admit it.

Yes...it's the old (and still stupid) "let's not make them mad at us" argument. It was the same thing that allowed Hitler to keep grabbing territory, start a world war, and get 50 million people killed. Now when you think of Nazis, think of Islamo-fascists....same thing.

Yeah, I know, much of America’s yute is a bunch of whiney pansies.

My feeling is that if things get real bad, they’ll all be sitting on the toilet crapping out what few brains they have, or quivering and sobbing in a dark corner somewhere...leaving the rest of us and our nearly 400 million guns to do the adult work. Oh, and those with burkas, etc. would be on the “we need to deal with this” list.

Europe has three choices: do nothing, inflame the muslims, or wipe them out.
