DETROIT (AP) â Michiganâs Republican governor, who has bucked many party leaders by welcoming Syrian refugees, is putting the efforts on hold following the deadly attacks in Paris.
Gov. Rick Snyder said in a statement Sunday that the state is postponing efforts to accept refugees until federal officials fully review security clearances and procedures. He added that Michigan is âproud of our rich history of immigrationâ but that Michiganâs âfirst priority is protecting the safety of our residents.â
âThere will be difficult days ahead for the people of France and they remain in our thoughts and prayers,â he said. âItâs also important to remember that these attacks are the efforts of extremists and do not reflect the peaceful ways of people of Middle Eastern descent here and around the world.â

Maybe we need to do a better job of vetting those who we let into our country, as well as who we elect president.
Drop them all off on Eight Mile.

And he calls himself a republican. I have a different name for him.
He better get out his “race card” deflector vest. Obonzo will be playing his Mother of All Race Cards in 3..2..1.
Good for that Governor....the rest of the Governors should do the same thing....hear them Jindal????
Stand solid Governor!!! America is with you....
Good.
But if Michigan can reject refugees, why can’t Bobby Jindal reject refugees for Louisiana?
So what would happen if obama said your are taking unvetted muslim refugees no matter what and a governor said FU and called out the national guard to block them...
Send them to Detroit.
I’ve been through Detroit and that city looks like a war zone.
Should make the Syrians feel right at home.
Federal government: They’re all cleared.
State government: How did you clear them?
Federal government: It is a national secret.
State government: Oh, so you didn’t do anything.
Federal government: We spent millions of dollars studying the issue and concluded that there’s absolutely no risk that any of these people will convert to Christianity.
State government: What about the safety of our people?
Federal government: What of it?
Not as bad as our last governor, if you smack him hard enough he gets the idea.
Yay! Good news for us. Thanks Ric.
What airport? Is there a source for that?
The West is full of idiots.
Courageously floating a trial balloon
This is truly a guy who would not trust olive oil
Here’s a clash of state’s rights vs. federal government imposition of a policy.
I hope more GOP governors follow this lead, and refuse to accept these refugees.
I am stunned, absolutely stunned, that even after the Paris attacks, the liberals still want to take in these young men from the middle east. We have no idea who they are, we can’t vet them or vouch for them in any way. We are inviting a Paris type attack to America if we let these people in.
That was just for publicity and to calm the sheep. They are still coming.
