Esteban Torres was 3 years old when his father was sent back to Mexico by U.S. immigration authorities.
"One day, my father didn't come home," remembers Torres, who lived with his family in a mining camp in Arizona at the time. "My brother and I were left without a father. We never saw him again."
Torres, 85, who went on to become a congressman representing the Pico Rivera area, was part of a generation of people whose lives were changed dramatically by large-scale deportation campaigns during the 1930s, '40s and '50s in which millions of Mexican nationals were rounded up and sent across the border on buses, trains and ships.

They will try to equate the deportations to the trail of tears, the media will make it a circus but that’s OK! It still can be done and there will be fewer forced deportations than the leftists think.
By simply enforcing our normal existing immigration laws with a little extra gusto that Trump will bring, we will see millions of them leaving on their own.
Once you take away all the free benefits and jobs, they will have to leave! There will be many that do not. Those are the most dishonest ones that have fake ID’s and game the system the most. Those will have to be forced to leave but once they see people going to jail and being arrested to be deported without their belongings, they too will self deport. They can choose to try to fly under the radar and risk losing the equity in their house and cars, or they can sell everything and leave with the money. This will work and it has in the past!
Also, if we have to deport you, you are BANNED from coming back to America for 25 years. If you ignore this rule, we put you in jail for 5 years, standard sentence, no exceptions!
If you are a felon and we deport you, you are banned from America for life. You go to jail for 20 years if you come back over again.
>> “But then again, I also know of kids missing their parents and even their children because they were killed by illegals.”
This is probably the best response to the sob stories that we will start seeing on a daily basis ...the poor souls that Trump will deport if he’s elected.
Show them the sob stories of American children whos lives have been shattered by murdered or DUI killed parents at the hands of illegals. The parents dead from the drugs and drug trade. The families who are homeless now because of jobs lost to cheap labor!
While I like the idea of deportations (or even something as simple as protecting the border), too many people don’t understand why these people are being actively encouraged to come here illegally. They are our version of the “Syrians”, and our businesses (especially the public education industry) needs them as clients. Without them many of our schools would close, and the Wal-Mart in my town would be deserted. Literally half of our housing (in my town) would be unoccupied, and our overlords simply won’t let that happen.
The real story here is that even Eisenhower, who represented the moderate/liberal wing of the Republican Party, was in favor of doing the right thing with illegals. In sharp contrast, most Republicans today, including many who pretend to be conservatives, are either outright in favor of amnesty or use the cowardly cop-out of saying that deportation is unfeasible.
“Victims” on parade. If I was deported from a country, my children were go with me.
What kind of parents are they?
This article makes an excellent argument for ending birthright citizenship for illegals and deporting the whole families.
My cousin and her husband were killed in a car crash by
an illegal driving DUI. - They had little kids & were
hard-working American citizens who attended church and
contributed to their community.
So, he must not have been that important to you since you never bothered to try and go see him again.
I.don’t.care.
Illegal aliens have no respect for our laws, the property of others (stealing services, taxpayer money) and in many cases, respect for human life. If they are here illegally, being rounded up, arrested, and deported is self-inflicted. If they won’t leave on their own volition, they should be thrown out.
Sorry to hear this Twinkie, my condolences. Whatever happen to the Illegal who murdered your cousin and her husband?
It’s wrong to break up families like this. Esteban and his mother should have been sent back with Dad.
Trump is simply brilliant. Let the negotiations begin.
He knows how difficult it might be to do the mass deportations, but for him to give that up there will have to be a lot of concessions on the establishment side which will accomplish what he wants anyway.
He is assuming he is already the president and he is opening the first salvo of negotiating. No wonder he is called the happy warrior. He is shooting fish in a barrel and illustrating that the establishment types are terrible negotiators.
Trump will end up getting everything he wants the wall, all the illegals accounted for or deported and the border secured!!!!!
That’s what happens when you take your kids on an excellent illegal adventure.
Hah that’s the first thing I did. The LA Times will not be happy.
The woman’s mother had divorced & remarried & pretty much
cut off all connection to her ex-husband’s family (us). She had already done so years before her daughter & husband were
killed in the car wreck with the illegal. - We tried to
maintain some contact; but the mother was not at all
interested and we didn’t push it. - You’re right, though.
The illegal murdered them just as surely as if he had taken
a gun and shot them; he just used a car and a jug of
tequila (or what ever it was) as weapons.
Read the comments. Not a lot of sympathy.
Yo, LA Slimes, how about the dark, simple history of mass illegal alien invasion bringing disease, rapists, murderers, thieves and general parasites on tax payer funded services, and social and political corruption, you morons?
