The following article is not the standard USDW post concerning a defense issue. Nevertheless, I feel that the situation on our nationâs campuses can eventually affect all of us. It has future implications for America and which course the country will take. Will it be one for freedom or tyranny?
During the past week, the nation has witnessed a myriad of lunatic temper tantrums and protests by college students who are demanding an end to free speech on campus, the destruction of the First Amendment and the Constitution and the creation of âsafe spacesâ where they can be protected against micro-aggressions committed by those that would dare to disagree with our nationâs little Maoists.
At the University of Missouri, a number of isolated, alleged racial incidents and insults led to mass hysteria on campus that forced Timothy Wolfe, the president of the university to resign. This has quickly snow-balled into a wave of political correctness tyranny. Students, led by Marxist, left-wing radical professors like Melissa Quick are demanding an abolition of the First Amendment and the creation of safe spaces, to protect students from whatever imaginary boogeymen haunt them. Quick, who was forced to resign, was ironically an instructor in the media department at one of the top journalism schools in the country.
Besides forcing Wolfe out of office, the students have forced the campus police to instruct students to dial 911 if they feel threatened by hate speech or any other fantastical allusion rolling through their empty brains.
â911, whatâs your emergency?â
âSomeone is triggering me. They donât like my shoes. Theyâre racist.â
âMove to a safe space. A patrol car is on the way.â
âOne Adam-12 136 (micro-aggression) in progressâ¦â
âOne Adam-12 roger.â
Have we gone certifiably insane as a country?
In an interview with MSNBC, Brenda Smith-Lezama, Vice President of the Missouri Studentsâ Association, when asked about complaints from professors that universities are becoming âplaces of censor and prohibition,â said people are using the First Amendment to create a âhostile and unsafe learning environment.â
âI personally am tired of hearing that First Amendment rights protect students when they are creating a hostile and unsafe learning environment for myself and for other students here,â Smith-Lezama said.
Who said communism is dead? Itâs alive and well on our nationâs campuses.
The Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves now.
At Yale, it gets even more absurd. Remember folks, these are actual events. Yaleâs Intercultural Affairs Council (yes, they have such a thing) sent out an email prior to Halloween asking that students be thoughtful in their costume selection so as not to offend others. They listed specific examples of costumes deemed offensive, âsuch as feathered headdresses, turbans, âwar paint,â and blackface as examples of inappropriate âcultural appropriation and/or misrepresentationâ.â
Erika Christakis, Associate Master of Silliman College, responded to the email and defended studentsâ right to wear Halloween costumes of their choosing, even if said costumes might be considered outrageous, inappropriate, provocative, or even offensive.
Christakis further urged students ânot to take offense at insensitive Halloween costumes,â and she told students, ââIf you donât like a costume someone is wearing, look away, or tell them you are offended. âTalk to each other. Free speech and the ability to tolerate offence are the hallmarks of a free and open societyâ.â
Yale students, however, did not appreciate this attempt to loosen the universityâs control over their Halloween costume choices nor the suggestion that they can control their own response to insensitive costume choices by choosing not to be offended or by the simple act of looking away. Indeed, they are now demanding Christakis resign for daring to suggest they should be free to make their own decisions . . . about Halloween costumes.
When her husband, Master of Silliman College, Nicholas Christakis defended his wifeâs statements, students responded with screaming tirades, accusing Christakis of not providing safe spaces for them and not protecting them from Halloween costumes that might offend them.
Under the guise of imaginary offenses, these little Maoists are creating the new Gulag Archipelago on the nationâs campuses. Yale and Mizzou and hundreds of other places of higher learning are becoming modern day Pol Pot re-education camps.
Like the Red Guards, the fanatical college age thugs who enforced Maoâs insane Cultural Revolution, todayâs college radicals are the enforcers of cultural Marxism and the destroyers of free speech and freedom itself.
Whatâs the cause of all this? Whoâs to blame? Look no further than their Baby Boomer parents and the leftist, do-gooder K-12 educators who have created a walking, talking, protesting Frankenstein monster called the Snowflake Generation.
For the last 25 years, Americaâs youth have been ridiculously coddled by helicopter parents who spoiled their children, calling them âspecial snowflakes.â The snowflakes never played except under parental supervision on organized play dates, missing out on key childhood developmental skills like negotiation, organization and settling things without a teacher or parent nearby. At school, the snowflakes were told that tag and dodge ball were too aggressive because they fostered competitiveness. In sports, everyone got a trophy and games had no winners and no scores!
The results: Americaâs current generation of college students are total wimps who are offended by every whim and fancy on the planet. Everything and anything under the sun is potentially racist and offensive; a potential micro-aggression that can be triggered at any moment, forcing a snowflake to take cover in a safe space until the terrible emotional turmoil of reading something disagreeable like Shakespeare ends.
Give me a break.
The snowflakes are the perfect brainwashed zombies to implement the radical ideas of our nationâs left-wing nut professors. Spoon fed a diet of feminism, political correctness, and radical womenâs studies and LGBT malarkey, Americaâs college kids are the millennial commissars of fear, shutting down free thought and expression and discussion everywhere they march.
These kids arenât protesting anything. Theyâre not like the 1960âs college students who were actually marching against tangible things like a war, the draft, pollution, etc.
These kids arenât vicars of freedom like Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy or Cesar Chavez.
These kids are the leaders of a growing censorship movement.
These kids are book burners.
These kids are the new Maoists.
These kids arenât at campus protests to debate. Theyâre there to end debate.
Great article! And +1 for the expression “Snowflake Generation”.
Generation Snowflake is in for a terrible shock.
So if Obama brings Islam to America, and they start raping and chopping off heads, are they still going to defend the Muslim? After all we can’t offend their culture..
they’re not in for a shock, we are...

Silly Man College. Yeah, I can see that.
Until employers wise up and start choosing a DD214 over a college diploma when hiring new employees and promoting existing employees, this stupidity will continue. These activism training centers are only relevant because you need to them to get any job that doesn’t involve using tools.
Snowflake Generation! I love it. That needs to go viral.
These young people will be in for a shock come next November when the Donald gets elected.
“Silly Man College. Yeah, I can see that. “
That’s sexist.
A good start to putting sanity back into colleges would be to eliminate all gender and ethnic studies courses as well as the entire sociology department. These do nothing but promote divisions based on race and sex and promote multiculturalism which is the disease resulting in the invasion of Europe and the US.
I beg to differ on the “’60s college kids marching against tangible things...” nonsense. THEY WERE ATTACKING AMERICA AND HER CULTURE UNDER THE GUISE OF BEING CONCERNED ABOUT CIVIL RIGHTS ETC! There isn’t a dimes worth of difference between today’s Kollege kids and those of the ‘60’s.
One thing these kids keep missing is that, as long as they insist that others are responsible for their well-being and self-esteem, they can never be comfortable with themselves. They will ALWAYS be beholden to whoever controls their “safe space”.
In today's 'Generation Snowflake', it is empowering to be a VICTIM, so the logical action is to seek out victimhood opportunity. So I would replace the highlighted portion above with the more appropriate 'COWER' and start awarding victimhood points to whomever is more psychologically 'damaged' by the encounter!
**Until employers wise up and start choosing a DD214 over a college diploma **
If only things were that simple. But the same parents of these Snowflake brats are the same ones who have turned our military into a sociology lab. The “person” with that DD214 might be a sodomite, or transgender.
>>The âpersonâ with that DD214 might be a sodomite, or transgender.
They might be, but the odds of getting a decent, hard working person who understands working through the pain are a helluva lot higher with the DD214 over the diploma.
Most job skills can be taught in a month or two. Morals and ethics are acquired (or lost) over a lifetime. College teaches you how to game the system to get a grade now and then worry about the next class later. The military teaches you that ignoring trouble and leaving your mistakes behind you will get you killed.
I agree that for the most part the military that are coming out into the civilian world now and the past were and are the best of the best, my father n law was one of them. And even my husband, and army brat all his life, was raised with that same work ethic because he saw it all his life. I’m thinking more of what is going to be coming out of the military in the next 10 yrs and on. They’re turning our military into a giant deviant sexual social experiment stew.
I can’t imagine the people Patton would be slapping today.
>> Iâm thinking more of what is going to be coming out of the military in the next 10 yrs and on. Theyâre turning our military into a giant deviant sexual social experiment stew.
But look at what is coming out of high schools and colleges. They are declining even faster than the military, so the military-trained person will still be the one who has been exposed to and lived under a more disciplined life than their contemporaries.
