Pipeline decision solidifies Obama's legacy
San Jose Mercury News ^ | 11/10/2015

President Obama's rejection of the Keystone XL oil pipeline project sends a clear message to the world on his commitment to fighting climate change.

It's a welcome decision. The economic impact of the pipeline has been largely overblown. The significance of Obama's announcement is that it makes clear the president intends to make his environmental agenda one of his lasting legacies, even if it comes at the expense of support from Democrats in energy-rich states who argue that the pipeline would create needed jobs.

his commitment to fighting climate change

He fights the imaginary enemies and coddles the actual enemies.

We deserve what's coming because we let this happen.

Yeah, what are jobs and cheap energy next to Odumbo’s “legacy?”

Legacy as a gutless ditherer, promising to act after review after review after review, then doing nothing until Canada decided to send oil elsewhere. Legacy of shame.

You hit it on the head. Legacy of standing up to straw men and pink lines.

When Algore was born there were more than 7,000 Polar Bears on Earth.

Today that number has dwindled to 30,000.

Global warming must be stopped!

We deserve what's coming because we let this happen.

Only if one believes in collective guilt, which is nonsense.

Your president, Dorkbama the Muslim, has the science knowledge of an amoeba.

Which is higher, evidently, than your writer, San Jose Mercury News.

Everything Obama has done since day one has gone into solidifying his legacy ... all crap. Everything this man has done has turned to sh*t, not to mention his unique ability to alienate just about every world leader he has had contact with.

Someone asked this question, and I don't have answer.

WHY is a pipeline so dangerous, that we must ban it?

Recently one Warren Buffett's oil tanker trains overturned and spilled.

Isn't that a *bad* thing?

I've not heard of a pipeline tipping over, nor getting into a trucking accident.

A pipeline seems way more environmentally "friendly" than trains, or trucks.

Or hell, an Exxon Valdez.

It seems like commie pinkos should be happy for a pipeline, as it deprives a multi-billionaire from getting evil "profits", plus is much safer for the environment.

“We deserve what’s coming because we let this happen.”

So genius, how could “we” have prevented it?

A clear message, a ballsy message, would have been to reject the pipeline in his first year as president. That sends a message of principle, political consequences be damned.

No, he waits till after the penultimate election day of his tenure, when political consequences for him have been all but minimized.

A symbol of his legacy? No, it is a symbol of his cowardice.

No, because Warren Buffett is a major donor to "progressive" causes.

</liberal groupthink>

tried to explain these points to a lib “friend”today.

glazed eyeballs - brain snapping and sparking, erratic jerking motions.

too much reality imposing on the emotions, I suppose.

(and the best art? explained the “dirty” sands oil was going to market no matter what they did - just burned in dirty Chinese power plants, refineries, and cars. the pollution comes over here, no matter what)

Then I would have asked your friend: "Who do you trust MORE to be environmentally conscious?

The Chinese, or the USA?"

WE unfortunately have pinkos that will stop oil refineries from even being BUILT.

The Chinese open a new one every week.
