At a campaign event in Springfield, Illinois, Donald Trump suggested a boycott of coffee giant Starbucks over the design of its Christmas coffee cups. The all-red design has angered religious conservatives who see it as part of an effort to undermine the meaning of Christmas.
"Starbucks is taking merry Christmas off [their cups] no more merry Christmas," Trump said.
"If I become president, we'll all be saying merry Christmas again," the candidate said to applause.
Trump told a raucous crowd, "Maybe we should boycott Starbucks. I don't know."
The real estate mogul also attacked his main rival, Ben Carson.
"This is a strange election, isn't it?", he said. "If you try and hit your mother over the head with a hammer, your poll numbers go up."
Carson has faced a barrage of questions in recent days over claims about his allegedly violent past.

I don’t drink coffee, so there’s no problem there. The wife likes coffee, but she hates Starbucks.
His name is Joshua Feuersten, and he refers to himself as an evangelist, internet and social media personality.
He posted a video declaring that Starbucks has removed all Christian images and wording from it’s holiday cups and has prevented baristas from saying “Merry Christmas”.
But that isn’t true. They just changed the design to a plain red rather than the snowflake background print they have had for at least two years now. And baristas are not prevented from saying Merry Christmas. Just another lie from this guy.
I just bought a hot chocolate at Sbux...please...people...this is stupid...they have Xmas stuff on their gift cards, etc...frankly..if it doesn’t have a Nativity or something representing true Xmas I don’t care...and FEW would do that.
I can think of many more reasons to boycott Starbucks and this is not one of them.
There are bigger problems in this country, Donald.
I agree with you totally. Some seem to forget that “if you give them an inch, they’ll take a mile.”
I quit Starbucks over the 2nd Amendment issue and was certain I was right when they started that disgusting attempt to have their servers”counsel the public” in their latest mad cap scheme to convert their customers into liberals. Now this! MERRY CHRISTMAS SHOULD NOT “OFFEND” anyone! Starbucks attitude is unacceptable to me.
Trump is being stupid on this one.
I was at the rally in Springfield. It was announced that Trump’s rally was the largest event ever held at the Convention Center. 10,000 plus. I was amazed at the diversity of the crowd. Many blacks, Hispanics, and even Muslims clapping for Trump. The crowd was just YUGE, and on fire.
If I’m not mistaken, however, Starbucks supports abortion.
Trump told a raucous crowd, “Maybe we should boycott Starbucks. I don’t know.”
What did that last a whole day?
I hope when he is elected _resident that he is more principled.
One of the reasons as I see it is that Starbucks is a monopoly on coffee houses. There used to be coffee houses. There used to be even competing ones with Starbucks. Now there are none.
That has to do with the new laws that make very hard to compete. What other choice is there than Starbucks. McDonalds tried a few years ago to compete on coffee and that went nowhere.
So the reason you see the Starbucks lines is that there is no other place to go. Starbucks is a fascist monopoly.
“Anyway, I already boycott Starbucks - but because their coffee tastes like it is burned, because they are expensive, because the âinâ crowd of snooty @ssholes loves it, and finally because they are anti-gun. Other than that, its a great place.”
I’m with you 100%!
I agree. Starbucks has never celebrated Christmas. this change is not targeting Christians in any way shape or form, it’s a made up controversy. if people want to boycott over the concealed carry business, or their attempt to start a race conversation [a few months back], have at it, but this is a NON THING right here.
Seems NOBODY is objecting to the cups.
....................................................
How do you know ? Where is the proof that nobody is objecting.
How do YOU know how many people simply don’t go to Starbucks any more and refuse to financially support a business in its rabid liberal policies?
Had 1 cup, tasted the nasty stuff for half an hour. I can buy a large can of ground Kroger’s coffee for $5-7 And we drink a full pot of coffee for a full month between the 2 of us. Smooth and mellow medium roast.
Then why does Starbucks even come out with the red cups, during this.....that’s right.....CHRISTMAS season??
To take advantage of, yet NOT acknowledge...Christmas, for those who celebrate Christmas.
Maybe they should have red cups all year long...to acknowledge their vile support of abortion.
yes, I had forgotten that, that is indeed a valid reason to boycott. but the cup thing just makes conservatives look like a bunch of loons. Starbucks, like most places, is made up of the people who work there. Mine are normal people, like you and I, who celebrate Christmas, SAY merry Christmas, aren’t even necessarily liberals, they are people who want to WORK, and got a job there.
Loved how Trump said....I have one of the most successful Starbucks in Trump Tower....maybe we should boycott Starbucks (for the red cups)....I probably just lost that lease.....I don’t care!
Go Trump!!! The ONLY non-PC candidate NOT owned by ANYBODY!!
But when they started selling me their group-think conscience issues along with their coffee, I had to quit them and now I no longer buy or drink coffee from Starbucks.
Silly progressives. Lots of people sell coffee and I already have a conscience.
