Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said he tried to produce the most conservative immigration bill that was possible in a Democratic-controlled Senate, and he thought a GOP-controlled House would make it even better, but that a lack of trust in the federal government helped doom the 2013 push on the issue.
âI live in a state thatâs deeply impacted by immigration, and I was trying to make a difference,â Mr. Rubio said on Monday eveningâs âHannityâ program on Fox News. âI was trying to produce the most conservative bill possible in a Senate controlled by Democrats and had hoped a more conservative House would make it even better.â
âWhat we underestimated is how much people distrust the federal government,â said Mr. Rubio, a 2016 GOP presidential candidate. âItâs not enough to just pass a law that says, âWeâre [going to] build a wall.â They want you to actually build the wall, and then theyâll let you move forward on the other things.â

Rubio is a liar. He tried to
Comprehensively Screw Americans Out Of Their Country
Anyone who votes for Rubio is voting to abandon the rule of law and surrender the country to illegal aliens and their employers.
This is going to get old very quickly.
I think so, too.
Thanks very much.
“In a way I think he almost gets it”
Of course he gets it. They all “get” it. Understanding illegal immigration does not require a rocket science mentality. Most Republican candidates welcome and embrace it, at the behest of their moneyed backers.
We don’t need another immigration bill, Howdy Rubio.
We need to strictly and adamantly enforce the laws already in place. Putz.....
‘Marco could have just refused to help on a amnesty bill.’
Sometimes the best deal is the one you don’t make. Trump.
As we all know, or should know, Rubio was working with a RAT senate and McCain/Graham and even Burr. Rubio walked away ...made public comments on the plan, not a bill at that time. He got attacked by the left and his friends on the right didnt forgive him for going along in the first place. Rubio lost a ton of supporters.
And now Schumer is playing along that Rubio is their guy.....but most see through this crap. The RATS fear Rubio more than most of the other candidates..make no mistake about it.
Not sure where this election will lead. Time will tell. If he is the nom. I’ll vote for him..as well as Cruz Trump Carson
I detect the faint whiff of bovine excrement in that “explanation”.
I watched that disingenuous little fib last night from Rubio. He really makes it sound so good if you don’t keep in mind what an amnesty pimp he really is.
You nailed it. However, it’s one thing to lie in a controlled, favorable setting, and another to lie when the eight hundred pound gorilla is ready to pounce. You may have seen Trump’s tweet about how Rubio pours sweat and chugs water. Some say he sweats overtime when he lies.
In any case, Trump is teeing Rubio up ahead of time, getting lined up for the big drive. Rubio knows it. I doubt it will be his night.
Rubio also blocked a bill outlawing sanctuary cities when he was speaker in FL.
I have no doubt you are right. Rubio also has pledged to the Latino’s he will uphold Obama’s illegal amnesty until he can get all the dreamers legalized.
Sure, Marco, sure you did.
LOL
But no matter what new concept or term you guys come up with to redefine it, a-m-n-e-s-t-y is still amnesty.
You still have the gang of 8 stench all over your shoes.
Scum schumer nuked the new kids career before it left the docks. You can see it in his eyes.
Raise your hand if you watched that last night and did not throw up in your mouth. :-)
Why didn’t the Rube tell UpChuck this liberal crap will not pass the House and I won’t be a part of it. A bad bill where you lose 20/80 is still not worthy of being supported anymore than a worse bill where you lose 5/95, you oppose both.
The Rube is either a Chamber of Corruption drone or is truly too stupid to be president if he thinks the condescending and smarmy UpChuck Schumer is an honest broker.
The “the most conservative bill that was possible in a democrat-controlled Senate” isn’t close to good enough. Attempting to deal with the democrats still in power was foolish.
