"I am Cyrus"
by Paul Charles Merkley
In November 1953, just a few months after leaving the presidency of the United States, Harry S. Truman was brought to the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York to meet a group of Jewish dignitaries. Accompanying him was his good friend Eddie Jacobson, a comrade from his Army days and former business partner in a short-lived men's haberdashery 30 years earlier. Jacobson introduced his friend to the assembled theologians: "This is the man who helped create the State of Israel." Truman retorted, "What do you mean, "helped to create"? I am Cyrus. I am Cyrus."

A Safe Haven: Harry S. Truman and the Founding of Israel Paperback â April 20, 2010
by Ronald Radosh (Author), Allis Radosh (Author)
So true.
So sad (for America).
I can’t argue that there’s anything untrue in the article, but it’s assuredly not the whole truth. The author either deliberately or accidentally neglects that Truman refused to entertain the idea of sanctuary for displaced Jews in their first preference. As discussions on relocating them in Rhodesia waned, the suggestion that the area formed by the junction of the four states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado as a secure Jewish state was summarily nixed by Truman because he feared the backlash of American voters in the next election. So the idea of establishing the new Israel in the geographic footprint of the old Israel was the answer to the prayer of a president who indeed acknowledged sympathy for the plight of the world’s Jews—but not in his back yard. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that the notion of the Jews’ return to the geographic site of Israel (for the SECOND time—unless prophecies are expected to do double- and triple-duty!) paralleled and underpinned Truman’s shameless political decision. After all, the basic, cosmic understanding of “Israel” is no more geographically based than the notion of “Christendom.” And having witnessed some 65 high-risk years for the new masters of Palestine, we’d have to admit that the American relocation Truman refused was infinitely saner & safer not just for the Jews but for the world.
Psalm 9:17
***As discussions on relocating them in Rhodesia waned,***
Rhodesia? I thought it was Uganda!
Hitler first wanted to send them to Madagascar, but Britain held the Suez Canal.
***the four states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado as a secure Jewish state***
The Lamanites in the area might not like that!
That passage, along with Romans ch. 9, 10 and 11 make it abundantly clear that there IS a "basic, cosmic understanding of "Israel"".
God in His Word is simply AMAZING in His promises for Israel.
Not to mention the Navajo.
That used to be all Hopi.
More like Antiochus Epimanes(the mad)..
The first line is better translated as, “ i will take you from the Nations and gather you from all the lands.....”
